when i do void meditation i see other things...

Lucifigus1 min to read

I have a problem. When i focus on spot on a wall, for example i see in my mind what i did few minutes ago.. it is like daydreaming. I dont see only a spot on a wall but also other things in my mind. I dont know how to explain this, but if anyone knows what im talking about and knows what to do, please reply to this post. The problem is, i think other things through the day and dont live in a present moment.

In short, you just have to keep trying. You can’t master void meditation overnight; in fact, it’s quite the opposite.
The moment you realize you are seeing or thinking about something else, just bring your focus back to the object you are focusing on.

Don't get discouraged; you just need training.

Try void meditation eyes closed

I recommend any sermon by High Priest when he discusses the difference between visions and an unrested mind. This recent post is particularly helpful.

The very purpose of practicing discipline of void meditation is to not allow your mind to think of anything it wants and daydream, but to focus on the dot. Keep at it, develop the discipline.

SG alchemist, you made comment on quality of my messages and i am not even clergy,

so i have right to do so in relation to your replies,

They look generic to me, and they can entirely be replaced by vultus ai which is already integrated, he also always goes deeper than you.

You are free to criticize my replies. But just because you didn't like my reply in another thread, it is not mature behavior to go into unrelated topics and provide nothing useful to the discussion besides commenting on the length of my reply.

Since you like to write very long posts, you should also understand that length is not a synonym for quality, and not every simple question needs an essay as an answer. Sometimes a short and direct answer is all that is needed, like in this case.

I find starring at a candle the best method of void meditation. The mind will wander and when you realise it has just shift your attention back to the flame.

OR You can also sit in complete stillness, let everything be as it is and rest as the silence in which sensations come and go. (Thoughts, sounds, feelings etc..) If it arises it will also pass away.

Thank you SG for your mature reaction despite my inappropriate reply🙏🏻

But just because you didn't like my reply in another thread

To be honest. That was the reason, i should have replied to your points instead of commenting in another thread.

it is not mature behavior to go into unrelated topics and provide nothing useful to the discussion besides commenting on the length of my reply.

This is not something two persons will disagree on, and i feel embarrassed reflecting on that,

Yes length is not that important, the most important metric is if the reply was helpful, and no one likes read text walls if the question can be answered briefly. Especially with the current attention span,

That was just me being defensive instead of giving valid feedback,

If it was truly a feedback i should have sent in email or vultus help, sharing here hint that this was just reactive,

I was immature in the first reply, i will not be immature twice and not admit my mistakes.

i agree, additionally, the more one talk the more likely he will make mistakes, so it is always good idea to never talk more than necessary to increase accuracy. Especially one new in the path.

I should learn to journal more, it will at least prevent me from sharing reactive replies.

To add something to this thread:

The problem is, i think other things through the day and dont live in a present moment.

Many think of this in binary way, you either live in present moment or you do not,

In fact, meditation is the very act of bringing your awareness back to the present,

Think of it this way: each time you bring your awareness back to the present, it is a win, the more you do it, the more you will be present,

However, being [ always ] in the present is not something common, it is normal if from time to time you slip, it does not mean you are broken.

it is like daydreaming

Do you mean visualization while your eyes are open?

This is the targeted message.

Quick fix for this problem is to try not only to look at that certain point, but to gradually add sensory focuses, until you are able to focus on them without additional thoughts, and in time to decrease them one by one until you can focus on the point with a fully void mind.

What do I mean by this, is:

Focus on the point: mind is taking you somewhere else.

Add sound: focus on the point AND sound. If your mind can't focus on these 2..

Add touch: focus on what your skin is touching, feeling, the clothes, bed, etc, everything the skin is feeling plus the other 2 senses. Add smell, taste..

Add senses until you have enough mind stimuli to not think about anything else but the senses you're focusing on. For you could be enough 2, 3, or even 4. You will know once you try, and find the minimum amount of senses to focus on for your mind to not go anywhere else.

Once you found them, practice focusing on them this way for a few days or weeks, slowly eliminating one stimuli at a time, until you can focus on the spot with a fully void mind.

Our brains love to keep active. When you try to forcefully reduce all its stimuli to 1 or none, the mind will naturally wander and recall or create memories.

When you give it enough stimuli to focus on, the mind will stop wondering. Eliminating one stimuli at a time will help train your mind to be okay with less stimuli, helping you ultimately succeed with void meditation by removing all stimuli, one sense at a time.

I hope this helps! It definitely helped me when I was just starting. 😊

Mastering the mind takes a long time, but if you want to boost the effectiveness of the void meditation and concentration and focus, use affirmations to program the subconscious mind with affirmations like "I have great concentration and focus ability in a healthy and positive way for me". Affirm daily after you wake up and before you go to sleep 30-40 times in your mind and don't start it when the moon is void of course. This may take a cople of months or more.

And about that you are not in the present moment, you can't be enywhere else but in the present there is no other place to be in but in the present, you just think about stuff and your mind is not calm and silent. When you think when does it happen? In the present moment, so this stupid idea that you don't live in the present is stupid and unreal. Everyone lives in the present moment but not everyone mastered their mind.
