This happens during open eyed void meditation and the dot meditation. I can't keep my eyes focused on 1 point - they jerk left and right nonstop (even if Im not having vertigo. I used to have it but now it doesnt happen). The movement is small but it never stops. I began noticing I do this in my daily life too - I never keep my eyes focused, theyre either hovering or, when theyre still, Im actually spaced out. I also see the object I focus on disappearing completely, shrinking / expanding, moving closer / further, its color changing a little, or tilting in certain directions (with angles, 3d) . Do you think these are normal experiences or some kind of disorder?

Do have an eye health check. It takes no more than 30-40 minutes. Clear out any possible medical concerns first, then you can explore whether it’s related to meditation or not.

When your eyes become still and you start to 'space out', this is exactly one reason why we practice awareness meditation using a single point of focus like the dot. The goal is not to space out completely, but to stay present and be consciously aware, to have your attention on that dot and what is happening. It takes multiple sessions to develop, so write down your experiences in a journal to track your progress and better understand what feels normal and what does not.

Don't fixate on it like a laser: Don't try to "fix" your gaze on the point. The idea is to have a soft gaze, like when you look at the horizon on the beach. Let the point be there, but don't fight it.

Blink freely: This isn't a contest to see who can hold their eyes closed. If you feel tension, blink or close your eyes for a moment.

Listen to your body: If you need to, see an eye doctor and do what's necessary to rule out any health problems.
