I don't even think this is a distraction because it's not being hyped up and they are just trying to tie it in with the Chinese spy balloon that was shot down. Usually by now there would be an artificially made trend in social media and mainstream media about this. The super bowl is already doing the distraction if anything. But we have detected them before many times. Besides it's most likely invasive military hardware and not alien even though the latter has been recorded to be detectable.

It's a distraction/psyop. If it was real, they wouldn't show any photos/videos of it and avoid mentioning the whole thing or reporting it on the news, unless it blew up and couldn't stop it. In that case, hey would threaten/gaslight witnesses and hire professional debunkers to "debunk" the "conspiracy theories" surrounding it and claim it's something completely normal and everyone who questions it is insane and needs to lose their job e.t.c. Possible not very exciting explanation might be that these are low earth orbit satellites which fell back down into the atmosphere and kept floating at high altitude.

Some kind of debris of low orbit infrastructure. Normally this would burn up in the atmosphere upon re-entry, however there might be outliers to this.

Most of these were cylindrical in shape, and about the size of a small vehicle, which is about the size and shape of smallish satellites.

On that end, they could also be "spy satellites" or something.

I don't think any of this is alien made though, unless maybe they pulled a prank and dumped some space debris out to earth to see everyone freak out over some alien garbage.
