Many people do God Rituals by just reciting, not really thinking about it, not really even understanding what they are doing. There is nothing wrong with that, it is a good starting point to at least do them.
But I want to share what I've learned over my time doing them, and learning how to better do them, in a set of guides that might, hopefully, improve some Zevists' experience with the Rituals.
1. Understand, and make yourself aware, of what you are doing.
In order to improve your God Ritual experience and results, you must teach your mind to open a "sacred space and time".
Realize that what you're doing is special, and tell yourself this.
Mentally or out loud, affirm that you are performing a God Ritual, which is a powerful tool intricately designed by High Priest Zevios Metathronos, that opens the gate to interaction with a God, an infinite intelligence and source of power, and a being that you want to get to know and understand.
Understand the roles of the God Ritual. There are other effects of the Rituals that are not just centered on the individual, but for now, have a clear concept in mind that you will:
- open a gate that gives you a direct connection to the God. When doing it again, you are opening that gate further.
- awaken the powers of that God within you. This is the core and basic concept of Theurgy, awakening and empowering the divine powers within.
- understanding the God by being exposed to their energies.
- engraving powerful divine names and invocations in your soul, that enact a permanent change upon you, that only gets more powerful with time and with more performed Rituals.
When you are doing a group Ritual, let it sink in that you are doing it as part of a group, that the raised energy pools together, and that the God Ritual is empowered. See mentally that you are doing this Ritual with other Zevists, led by Clergy or a Guardian.
Before the Ritual, take a couple minutes to sink this all in. Do not enter willy nilly, you will get willy nilly results.
2. Set a connection with the God before the Ritual.
- High Priest explained this before. Before the Ritual, focus on the sigil of the God (Shenu or "Goetic", both are fine), and concentrate on the sigil, establish a mental connection. Then, breathe in the energy that emanates from the sigil, using your intent, visualization, and the same technique you have learned from Foundation Meditation.
- If this does not feel too faked and disruptive, pray to the God. Ask to be guided to perform the Ritual correctly, to understand the God, ask the God to teach and grant you what you need. And arguably just as importantly, offer thanks to High Priest for bringing you the Ritual, and to the God for letting Him/Herself be known to us.
3. When performing the Ritual...
For the Runes, focus on the Shenu sigil while vibrating them. Acknowledge that you are raising energy by vibrating them, and that this energy is centered on the Shenu itself, as the Ritual focus point.
When you utter the affirmations, let your mind live them. Visualize them, feel them, connect to the words you are saying, as they are not empty words. Treat them with your full attention, and let your mind create a picture of it. After the affirmation, briefly focus on the sigil to mentally connect what you said to the God.
When you vibrate the Divine names, feel them. You are vibrating the very energy of the God, it is emanating from you through speech, through Heka. This is a Divine faculty in itself. Seek to understand them, how they feel, how they resonate with your being.
Have your full attention on the Ritual.
4. Right after performing the Ritual...
MEDITATE. Do not just drop it.
Meditate on the God through their sigil. First, focus on the sigil, to connect to its energies again. Then, reflect. What passages remained in your mind? What feelings do you get? How has your understanding of the God changed? Conceptualize the God, what He/She is, how your understanding has grown.
Then, meditate "on yourself". This includes what the Ritual gave you.
New Rituals have some information about what to meditate on after the Ritual.
These will, in fact, eventually come naturally. Once you have more experience with Theurgy and a better understanding of God Rituals, you will perform it, meditate on yourself after, and internally know to focus on what you have gained and activated.
Process the fact that you have unlocked a power within you. Not fully, of course, but you have somewhat unlocked it, guaranteed.
All Gods are, besides beings, parts of your soul. What do you think this God was in your soul? If the Ritual has a meditation at the end, seek to understand it, and what it means.
Amon Ra is the Sun that grants vitality and abundance through its ability to shine upon everything. Tune into your inner vitality-bringing Sun, your inner ability to radiate outwards of your being. Your infinite flow of energy and power. Ponder these things.
If possible, enter trance. Many God Rituals, after you have some experience seriously doing it, will seriously "nag you" to look deeper. Go into trance and see what thoughts come to mind, as vivid visions, or as heard messages, or as concepts that you just can't get out of your mind. That is the God communicating with you.
You may have been closer to communication than you thought, but you just never really sat to listen.
If possible, after all this, write it all down. Chaotic, all over the place, a lot of rambling, all is fine. This will be useful for when...
5. Some time after performing the Ritual...
Some time will be a day, days, weeks, and even months.
Set some time at some point to reflect on the way you think. On your life. On yourself as a person.
Has the Ritual made a change in you? Has the Ritual prompted you to think differently? To approach situations differently? To see meditation differently? Has it improved certain meditations? Empowered a Chakra?
A Ritual could've already blessed you and empowered you, evolved you as a being even, and you never noticed, because you just did not do enough self reflection. We must be active agents and guides of our own lives, steer our own ship. That can only happen with self awareness.
6. Additional miscellaneous tips
6.1. Get hungry to know and to have. There are people here, including Clergy, stating that these Rituals are incredibly powerful tools and also connect you to THE GODS, splendid and unfathomable beings. If you haven't experienced this, are you not curious? Get curious. Get really curious.
Get entitled. Get angry, even. "What are these people talking about!? I must find out."
If you were given a tool that was stated to be able to do something like, let's say, make you smarter, and you didn't know how it works, you'd obsess over it. You'd turn it on every side, you'd look at it under a magnifying glass, you'd try to swing it around in every way, touch every button.
Get, and correctly use, a strong drive to "find out what this is all about".
6.2. Spiritual advancement through meditation does help. Raise your bioelectricity levels slowly over time, through energy practices like Foundation. Do Yoga to be more open. Work on your Chakras to be more open. Clean, to be more receptive. Work on your Third Eye. Work on your astral sense points. Work on Awareness Meditations to focus better. Train your Trance to reach deeper levels of trance easier.
6.3. Do the God Rituals during their schedule.
6.4. Do the God Rituals in a group, on our free Vultus Templorum platform. Everyone should be in.
