If I were you and yoga were completely out of the question, I would do qigong or tai chi instead! it ask empowers the soul and will definitely get your chi/prana/bioelectricity going just like yoga. There is less vigorous movement as well.There are many books and dvds on qigong. Also I'm sure that there are some yoga movements that are slow that you can do.
Actually no matter how hard it can be you can do some yoga and take it very slow. Many have stated that yoga has healed their problems and stopped or significantly dulled the pain. Consider these things. Hail our Creator God Satan.

I am having fibroid and am planing on doing the operation ending of this year and because of this I don't do any yoga and I don't like it because it makes me weak. Even after the operation I will have to wait for it to heal that's a long time for me and this is affecting most of my meditation as well.
