Hello to all my dear friends and priests,

I read the section about the priority of the soul over the body...

This topic seems very interesting to me, so I have done a lot of research on it.

The point is that you believe that the soul takes precedence over the body.

My question is: Why?

Philosophers after Plato and others, in different lands, did not accept this theory. For example, Avicenna and Mulla Sadra, Persian philosophers or Thomas Aquinas....emphasized the priority of the body over the soul.

What arguments establish that the soul takes precedence over the body, and what arguments refute the idea that the body takes precedence over the soul?

I'm not sure what you were reading, but the body is sacred, like the soul. If you read something that said the soul takes precedence, perhaps the context matters.

For example, most people live only according to the needs of the body, never realizing that their soul even exists. When someone is unaware of their higher existence, the discovery and cultivation of that existence takes precedence, especially when the bodily experience seeks animalistic dominion.

Also, the reason we have a body is because the soul has taken physical form, as it descends from the source from where it came. Therefore, the over-ruling director is spirit, and as we reincarnate the body is discarded and made anew again and again until perfection.

So, it's a process of re-ascending through the planetary spheres that we previously descended through as we took form, and to do this, the soul must take priority while the body is mastered in support of that.

A person at Level IV still has a body (I), still feels emotions (II), still thinks rationally (III). But all three lower faculties are directed by the spirit. They work in harmony, each performing its proper function under the governance of the highest.

I think their argument is based more on the idea that each person's soul is individual and distinct. Therefore, the soul does not exist until approximately the fourth month of the child's development, and it gradually comes into existence within the body (after the organs have formed)... This seems to contradict what you said, namely that the soul does not come into existence at birth.

Parts of the soul enter the body at certain specific times in the pregnancy, but the final part of the soul enters at birth, when the infant takes the first breath. The entirety of the soul is complex with layers.

The soul is more important, but the body is sacred as well and also must be taken care of and treated with respect. The soul develops with the body, such as by practicing yoga and mantra, and through the mind, such as in study. All are essential.

The past few thousand years were rife with Izfet, Birburim, etc. Many people did not have the full truth about anything. They may have a few words of wisdom or insight, doesn't mean everything they claimed was correct. In the Temple of Zeus we want the truth and pure knowledge.
