Spheres of light?

I was wondering if anyone here could help me figure out a supernatural experience I had years ago.
Myself and a few friends decided to have a seance outdoors to contact someone in the group's deceased sibling. We went to an abandoned rock quarry in the woods and found a large, circular flat topped rock on the ground. We all sat in a circle on it and lit out candles in the circle, held hands and gave it a go. This was before i was a dedicated Satanist. We were all a bunch of clueless teens.
The place we were at had great energy. Very positive, almost euphoric. Fun fact, the rock from the quarry has been studied by the scientific community for its similarity to moon rock. The Japanese were even interested in it, and this is in the U.S.. I guess it has some of the closest composition to the samples brought back by one of the Apollo missions. Don't know if the geology could have any influences on this event. I mention it because of watching Ancient Aliens. They had an episode about portals and stuff being associated with another rock-quartz. Anyways.
It was an absolutely beautiful night. I remember we were all very bubbly. No, we weren't drunk of high. The quarry was a party spot, but we were sober and know what we saw.
As we were attempting the seance, we looked up and right next to the rock high above us was a large sphere of bright light. It was about three feet or so in diameter. It appeared out of nowhere and disappeared seemingly into the rock. It didn't stick around long.
It kind of did that thing like you see in the sci first shows with ships taking off into warp speed. It suddenly expanded and then shrank itself gone. Everyone saw it. What could it have been?

Thanks for replying, Raptor. I had a feeling it was... Sentient. A being of some sort. Like someone was saying hello. I mean, we were doing a seance. I just never expected a human spirit to feel so powerful. Then, who's to say it was human... Though for some reason I also wondered if it had to do with a portal. I'm not even quite sure why I thought so. And I dont know anything about those. Maybe it was the way it seemed to have emerged from and reentered the cliff face.

NP Sternegucker.  Well, the reason is because I have seen numerous humans that are traveling on the physical plane show up in different types of Merkabah's.  Merkabahs arent just simply some geometric shape surrounding one like an aura they can get very complex. My intuition on it was it was a living being inside a Merkabah vessel traveling, and that the merkabah itself acted as a way to boost its travel and anything else it does.  It probably has the ability to generate/create its own portals via its merkabah vessel.  Another thought is that it entered/traveled through "Stone" so has very strong ties to some form of Earth Magick, and the stone simply served as some form of elemental gateway.  Maybe you should look past the idea that it was because it was a sacred site and look into the fact that a Spirit was communicating to you specifically.  Spirits, elementals, devas, demons, entities tend to communicate with humans by not just engaging them directly, but by creating events (showing signs/symbols of Synchronicity) as well as leading them to places to where they can more easily manifest or communicate.  i.e. If the spirit was related to "Stone" then it will lead you to a Stone Monument that creates a Strong Significance (impression) on your mind.. which in itself is the Subconscious Gateway which allows it to manifest the understanding of its nature more when it manifests.  Like on a ritual alter, the stone monument was merely the externalalized ritual peice of what one would experience as an Occult Spirit Element Correspondence of said spirit when to encounter it both Internally and Externally. My best advices at the moment is figure out what spiritual practices you are into and what spirits you work with and meditate on hidden things which may show ties to a past life spiritual connection.  Even when working with demons they can teach us things that are not written in grimoires or anywhere else.  If you ever develop a closer relationship with them, they may even give you special sigils (portals)  which is a more direct link as I have experienced.
