Regrounding After Meditation

AvatarHigh Priestess Lydia Coventina3 min to read

When we meditate, we raise energy and/or connect with a higher spiritual awareness. Instead of coming out of meditation and trying to go about your day again, often feeling lightheaded or even dizzy for a period of time, it would be better to do a short re-grounding practice. This will help you integrate the benefits of your meditation to your material life, to enable you to stay focused on your spiritual path with the higher awareness gleaned from meditation.

Here’s how:

1. When you finish meditating, close your eyes if they are not already. Bring your palms in front of you perhaps to your heart center, and rub them together vigorously to create friction and heat. For those of you who are more Vata (Air dominant) you might want to do this for a full minute; for Kaphas and Pittas, just 10 seconds might be enough.

2. Now place your hands lightly over your closed eyes* for a few moments. Feel the warmth from your palms on your skin.

3. Trace your hands down your face* and neck, down your arms and wrists, then to anywhere on your torso. If you have enough space behind you, you can then bring your hands to your low back and begin massaging for a few moments, then trace your hands down to your thighs. You can keep massaging as you bring your hands down your thighs and calves, then your feet, especially the soles; here, you can press your thumbs into the soles of your feet. (This entire step might only take 10 seconds, or you can do this for as long as you want.) You may even prefer to massage your arms as well during that part of this step.

As you do this, sense that you are bringing into your physical body the excess energy you raised. Your body is the house of your soul, your vehicle to advancement. It is through your physical body that your soul can express itself.

4. To end, draw your right hand into a fist, and cup it with your left hand. Press into your Solar plexus and bend forward into your hands, willing this to seal energy into your Solar chakra, the powerhouse of your soul. Inhale, and exhale, then straighten up and relax your hands.

Now, gently open your eyes and reorient yourself. You have completed your meditation 🙏

*For those wearing makeup, or who have acne in which case it is contraindicated to touch your face, you can bring your hands instead to your head then neck; continue with the given instructions.

Thank you for this High Priestess Lydia!
The hands over face and eyes part is something I’ve been doing after meditation for a while now, intuitively it felt right.
It’s comforting and pulls you back into yourself very effectively within just a moment. I will implement the other steps too!

Thank you for this practice HPS Lydia. I will definitely give it a try now that I had expanded my daily meditations considerably as of yesterday.

Thank you, HPS Lydia! I usually brought my palms to my heart center intuitively, but I didn't do anything after that. I'll try this method.

All you need is yourself, to meditate, and to heal your soul. The key to greatness is already in there. You don't need to be anyone else, but your own self. Live your life, exist and advance. Do your most beautiful work on your soul and life now.

If you want to climb in life, you will have to engage life and not complain about the rules.

Than you High Priestess.

#16

Thank you High Priestess Lydia. I'll try this. And be consistent after every meditation.

#17

Thank you, this will be really helpful. I usually just flex my fingers and work my way up to get out of the meditative state. But this way ensures no energy goes to waste.

#18

Thank you High Priestess! Now I understand why I had urges to rub my hands after doing certain meditations.

#19

Thank you very much High Priestess Lydia.

I really need this right now. It's perfect timing. I am truly grateful.

Thank you as always for this magnificent knowledge, High Priest Lydia. It always comes at the perfect time; after certain meditations or spiritual work, I would immediately disconnect and If I lay down in bed, for example, I felt a great pressure on my head. I suppose this could make that disappear. Your words are always helpful! Bless you.
