On the one hand I am full of awe, fear(respectful fear), fascination and reverence for Nature. Its beauty and complexity is unfathomable. Earlier I played a mental vision in my head of it all. Birth, death, disease, passion, pain, the eternal circle of life, death, rebirth. There is a sense of majesty and a “fear of God”, not the biblical crap, but actual respect for this Power, a bewilderement towards it.

In honour of this I renamed myself as the Acolyte of Pan. A student and follower of Nature and its Architect, Zeus/Pan.

And yet, despite all this and my strong dedicated to realism andy devoted study of nature and its laws, I can’t quite bring myself to be at peace with the sheer brutality of it all.

The ones who have it the worst are the higher order animals. They have basically all the sufferings of humans without the ability to transcend it all. They’re stuck here having to suffer for all eternity until their soul group goes extinct.

Then there’s disease, decay, parasites, and all such things. Just horrible. The passing of time which eats everything is dreadful to meditate on.

I’ve had tooth problems and had to go to the dentist quite a few times, and i thought to myself “what if it was 200 years ago before all this wonderful technology”, having read how dental care was in the past, it’s quite the nightmare.

Even then I’ve had it easy, really easy. I’ve read and watched how fucked up some people are when they’re born. Those familiar with this topic will know what i mean. Those who aren’t, don’t look further into it if you want to keep any semblance of positive feelings towards life and nature.

It’s easy to struggle and strive against nature when nature has given you an easy time. Even if you’re poor if you have a good body and mind that’s worth more than a million dollars.

Nature’s brutality seems to exceed the need for just providing a good environment for “struggle”. It doesn’t fell right to me. I’ve meditated towards Lord Zeus and asked Him for guidance on how I should approach all this. I felt his Warmth and Love, I almost cried. I thought it would be could to post this here and get other perspectives on this.

Why was Nature designed to be this excessively brutal?

I think one thing nature does well is bring us back into a state of gratitude. It reminds us to live and appreciate the time we have to experience this. I have noticed people who ignore this side of existence become in a way mentally ill, delusional, and unrealistic with their expectations of reality. Nature is brutally honest, therefore it exists how it is. And I’ll take an uncomfortable truth over any sort of lie

This is the human perspective on nature’s brutality shaped by our desire to improve conditions and make things better for ourselves and society. Our complexity is translated into these feelings, and as children of the Gods, and future co-creators, this perspective is meant to teach us about balance and what must be protected.

Animals do not perceive suffering in the same way we do. Despite disease, they continue to fight, survive, eat, and mate. Suffering and decay belong to the world of becoming, not to ultimate state of reality.

I think the new meditations are a great help for us here.

Ethics Meditation

This practice systematically deconstructs the barrier between mere reading and true understanding, thereby opening your higher awareness. By moving beyond the literal text to perceive the abstract context that surrounds it, you learn to apprehend the unwritten Law of the Gods, the foundational principles that govern reality.

"Nature" typically refers to many different things and it's definition depends on the individual, but what you're talking about specifically is renewal. Life is a phenomenon that feeds on itself to continually renew itself. It is fascinating how it always adapts and finds a way to endure nearly any circumstance, and it's important to recognize that suffering is a byproduct of the cycle of renewal and not necessarily the point.

Unfortunately the cycle requires life to feed on itself, and the process will never not be unpleasant for the individual. Parasites (disease can also be included as "disease" is caused by parasitic organisms, bacteria and viruses), are required to prevent imbalances in natural ecosystems, and if these grow out of control, their hosts begin to develop resistance and immunity to maintain balance.

It is easy to observe this cycle from our privileged position, the pain and suffering endured as life feeds on itself, and come to the conclusion that nature is cruel. But it's important to understand that life cannot exist otherwise. While it is important to recognize the existence of ugly, painful and cruel things, it's also important to remember that beauty, joy and kindness exists in equal measure. And one is meaningless without the other.

The only way that life can endure the passing of time, is through renewal. I believe it is possible to make the cycle more palatable, if we really put our minds to it. Sadly at this point in history we have other concerns that leave no time for this.

It's also important to recognize that nature does not "intend" for suffering to occur, nature is only "concerned" with the cycle continuing. The suffering is an unfortunate side effect of this cycle.
