"ὁμοίωσις θεῷ": Becoming a God

AvatarHigh Priest Zevios Metathronos6 min to read

As many people are looking into childish modernity, and other related cheap sources of information about the Gods, or might, argue for example, the core position of the Temple of Zeus in promoting the Godhead, or rather would argue, that these "modern" things mean anything or that they are "original", I have something to relate to everyone here.

The idea of the Godhead, is not an idea that is new, was invented recently, and is certainly not a reactionary idea to the popularized Abrahamic Doctrine. If anything, in fact, the reactions are consequential expressions of the lack of this; those who were left destitute by these prohibitions, long for a return.

A return to where, is the question? And here is the core idea of the path of the Gods, standing clearly as the central aim of man.

"Becoming as the Gods" is not something that is invented, modern or conceptually related to anything less, than the core of the Gods themselves. The popularized comment for which "man was driven out of Eden", was the true aim of the Ancient spiritual system.

«ὁμοίωσις θεῷ κατὰ τὸ δυνατόν· ὁμοίωσις δὲ δίκαιον καὶ ὅσιον μετὰ φρονήσεως γενέσθαι». Theaetetus, 176b

Plato literally tells us above, in 5th century BCE (some would argue, way before) what the point of all the spiritual and divine disciplines are. To become a God. There is no "humanity cannot connect to the Divine", there is no "Man is separate from God" and there is no "The Most high exists somewhere in the clouds and man cannot reach it", there are none of the falsehoods and pivots that take place later religiously. The statement is explicit.

The ultimate imperative of the Ancient path of the Gods, was indeed, for one to become in essence like them. This is the explicit aim.

That is the direct opposite than what we are told by later Christianity for example: "God" in Genesis, appears as a prohibitory and unethical thing to do, and then it requires a punisher of the individuals who try to become Gods; they are cast down from "Garden of Eden", cursed and anathematized because they ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (exactly where Plato, before this doctrine even existed, told people to engage).

In this Jewish lore, there is strong prohibition for this, and it's considered an evil act to attempt. In the Platonic and Ancient conception, this is not only not evil, but the desired outcome for mankind. Historically, the inversion from becoming as the Gods which was later "popularized", starts with this prohibitive perception; man is no longer supposed after this point to become as the Gods and this remains a restricted environment for man to dwell in.

Where Plato says "become as the Gods and be like them", later belief systems come to say "don't you dare even entertain that thought".

So we have two things here: The original manuals and the original aims, the prohibitive manuals for mass control, and the reactions of the uneducated to them. From the three, one who is wise will pick the First: the Original.

The origin of this prohibition for man, rests in the early conceptions of Judaism and in these doctrines, same as all "reactions" to this which were generated later. These, one has to move past, in order to approach the Original. Then, one sees the aim and the path clearly.

As far as the real universe is concerned, Plato explains explicitly what the aim of this path is, that it is applicable, walkable, possible, and even destined for the divine souls to follow.

This path is this: It is to literally, become as God and in the same essence (ὁμοίωσις) to God. This means every individual and person out there, has this ability inside them, and it must be unlocked and brought to life. The later doctrines water down this word; calling it "Likeness", "Image" and other weaker words (visual and similarity), to water it down, and also add this process as an ultimate "sin". Man is eternally locked in slave status via this conception; and if he is anything, he's just an "image". Long before the concept of "Κατ εικόνα και κατ'ομοίωση" ("In the image and likeness") appears, Plato has coined the statement something that could easily allude to cultural carry over of the shell (the idea that man resembles God), without the essence (to potentially become like him), as a punishable route of existence.

The above, is textbook Yehuborism. To go deeper into this topic:

The Ancient Greek word ὁμοίωσις literally means, for the man to transmute his essence into Divine Essence. Plato defines this as possible and sought after; not as a theorem.

Further, as Plato is an expert and as sources explicitly admit in the Ancient World, was recognized as the Son of the God Apollo, he goes further to explain how that process would take place. To become "as the Gods" necessitates consequently to achieve the notion of Φρόνησις (balance of the urges that leads to higher wisdom), Purity of soul (όσιον), and Justice (in both behavioral and energetic fashioning. Plato further gives an allusion, that a person will attain as much as possible, or should or would (κατά το δυνατόν) and that one must strive as much as possible to that end.

As for the question of how this happens, Zevism represents the completed path and system to that end. While others pretend this semantically, Zevism is actually this path literally applicable to this very specific end.

The internal dimension of these, is what the Temple instructs as Meditation (δυνατόν - capacity of power). The behavioral template of this, are the Ethics of Zevism (Φρόνησις & Justice). The existential dimension of this, is the life in the service of that end, which achieves the highest workings of man (ὁμοίωσις θεῷ). The connection of these matters with the Gods is Theurgy (Σοφία, Θεουργία, Connecting your intelligence to theirs).

Always remember: This is the core objective of Zevism and the path of the Zevist. The impartment of humanity, to the highest level of existence with the Gods.

Thank you for pointing this out, High Priest!

A position of complete separation between Man and the Divine is just impossible to truly hold.

Even in the abrahamic faiths, there end up cominb along (copes to various degrees, but still) ways to deal with this: Theosis in Eastern Orthodoxy, the Beatific Vision in Catholicism, various Sufi Islamic and Kabbalistic schools of thought and so on.

But these attempts to solve it are always skin-deep only, as one can clearly see in cases like EO theologians praising their "theosis" but directly attacking "apotheosis".

The truth is simple and obvious:

We can be self-subsistent, sovereign, beyond limitation and experience the things of eternity.

Correct, they cannot escape from this notion. It's an innate human need, because the Gods made humanity in this manner. It cannot be escaped from. They supplement themselves at least with the shell or the husk, in order to compensate for the loss of essence; it's not enough and they understand this.

They can try to deny this, but fundamentally, they have inherited any such ideas (same as all of them) from the sources described here.

For Yehubor to exist, it has to maintain the shell and revoke the essence; for the truth to exist, it must retain the essence and the shell comes secondary.

As a result, these claims on their behalf, are empty shells without an essence. They have to maintain the shell, but the essence is entirely absent.

They have to maintain the shell, but the essence is entirely absent.

Thank you High Priest for the Sermon! This specific part, reminded me of those who used Sufism as way to actually preserve the essence while paying for it with corrupting the shell, Sharing my thoughts on this:

Many Sufi orders function as veiled Paganism, deliberately dressed in Islamic language to survive where open devotion to the old Gods would mean persecution. This is not accidental syncretism or a faith struggling to reconcile itself with Abrahamic tradition. It is intentional concealment, a shell constructed on purpose so the practices could continue in plain sight.

The outer form was corrupted willingly, not through ignorance or decay. Temples to Zeus exist within Sufi frameworks. Entire paths are built around Hera, around Poseidon, around Atlas. The concepts of Zevism are all there, just renamed, just reframed. When Islam prohibited working with the Gods, these practitioners did not abandon their Gods. They wrapped them in a language the surrounding culture would not kill them for.

A saying attributed to a Sufi saint captures the method: Stand where they stood, interpret, peel away. The seeker is not meant to accept what is given passively. He is meant to take the knowledge of those before him, engage his intellect, and then strip the shell to find what lies beneath. The outer layer is not the point. It was never the point.

This is why so many Sufi publish corrupted books, deliberately incomplete techniques, half-finished instructions. The reasoning is simple: whoever is meant to understand will understand. Whoever cannot see past the corruption was never meant to have the knowledge. Lurkers receive nothing. The uninitiated remain outside, even while reading the very texts that claim to teach. This i dislike personally and i am Grateful Zevism does not reach that level of gatekeeping.

The concept of becoming a God runs through Sufism at its core. Even in paths that emphasize working with the Gods focusing only on that, the Gods themselves are said to push the seeker further, offering techniques and agreements that lead beyond simple devotion. The Gods do not want worshippers who remain stagnant. They want souls that ascend.

Publicly, Sufis speak one language. Privately, in closed circles, the truth emerges piece by piece. Initiates receive what they are ready to receive. Nothing more. The practitioner is not handed the full picture at once. He earns each layer of understanding, and only after proving he can hold it.

What is said openly is often not what is believed. The goal, stated in metaphor so dense that it appears to say nothing, is Godhead. The language is crafted to sound innocent, to sound like ordinary devotion, while meaning something far more radical. Only those who understand the symbolism catch what was actually intended. To everyone else, it reads as harmless piety.

This is why a teacher is not optional in Sufism. It is impossible to extract the real teaching from a book alone. The books are designed to mislead the unready. The techniques are deliberately broken. The words are chosen to conceal as much as they reveal. Some Sufis openly mock the idea that knowledge can be found in texts. They laugh at those who think reading is enough, because the deepest truths were never written down in any form that a stranger could simply pick up and use.

Among themselves, even initiates do not receive everything at once. Information is shared only when the student is deemed ready. If he is not ready, he does not get the next piece. The path unfolds gradually, and the teacher decides the pace.

What these paths ultimately pursue is the same thing many of us pursue: union with the Gods, and beyond that, ascension into Godhood itself.

In Some Of Sufi Paths, the Gods are not the final destination. They are guides, teachers, allies. They lead the soul upward, toward the All, toward something even greater than themselves. That is what the Sufis are working toward in their private circles, beneath the Islamic shell they wear in public.

They are not corrupted. They were Pagans who chose corruption as a strategy. Not all of them are confused Abrahamic faithful trying to make sense of their tradition. They are practitioners of the old ways, hiding in plain sight, speaking in code, corrupting their own texts on purpose, and laughing quietly at anyone who thinks the surface is the whole story.

What i dislike about Sufism, is the Shell is forced, here in Zevism we can practice without needed that Shell, and also, it is extreme hard to find a Sufi teacher who is balanced, mostly they strive to be like Masters who lived 300-500years ago or more, because those that are taken as examples are but a few, and the current Living Sufi are in almost all cases in no way near those who even started whole Sufi Paths,

Also, because of having to add the Shell, and because many who start in Sufi Paths are truly muslim, everything get mixed up, and those who know cannot say, so its extreme hard to advance without the corrupted tools or at best, the tools that are wrapped in islam skin. Also there are many differences between Sufi Paths.

You can find things there, but you cannot find an actual Plan or approach, it is shuffled up and a lot of shells. This is why discernement is adviced a lot,

I just recalled few concepts of a Sufi Saint that i liked, in relation to shell and essense. These are quotes from him:

[ If knowledge is not from you nor from itself, you remain distant from it. ]

This saying is about the two conditions that must meet for real knowledge to happen. "From you" means your own effort, attention, and sincere seeking. "From itself" means the knowledge has its own truth and order that you must receive rather than invent. If it is not from you, you are passive and not truly engaged. If it is not from itself, you are only projecting your own ideas and never touching real knowledge. When both are missing, you stay far from it even if you think you are close.

[ You alone, without it. ]

The first error is relying only on yourself. Your own opinions, your own reasoning, your own ego, while ignoring what revelation, tradition, and authentic sources actually say. When you do this, you become a self-invented thinker who does not even realize what he does not know. You fall into ignorance because you lack the light of true knowledge, and you fall into misguidance because you go astray while believing you are right. This is the danger of pure subjectivism with no submission to anything outside yourself.

[ It alone, without you. ]

The opposite error is relying only on the knowledge itself. You memorize texts, repeat what scholars say, and never activate your own intellect or personal engagement. The knowledge stays dead information in your head. It does not illuminate your heart or change your life. You become stagnant because you are not growing or understanding deeply, and you become a blind imitator because you follow others without knowing why. You have the shell of knowledge but not its spirit.

[ You and it together. ]

This is the balance that leads to true knowledge. When you combine your own active, discerning intellect with the objective, authentic knowledge of the tradition, you reach verification and certainty through personal investigation. You are not just repeating what you heard. You have internalized the truth so deeply that you can defend it, apply it, and live it with conviction. This leads to correctness because you neither distort the tradition with your ego nor abandon your reason. You become a true inheritor of knowledge, not a parrot or a rebel.

[Stand where they stood, then interpret, then peel away.]

This is the method that flows from that balance. First, stand where they stood. Respect the boundaries and conclusions of the righteous predecessors. Do not recklessly innovate or think you are smarter than centuries of scholarship. Second, interpret. Activate your intellect to derive meanings, analogies, and applications from their wisdom. Third, peel away. Strip off the outer husks of jargon, culture, and formalism to reach the core spiritual reality. You do not worship the shell. You seek the kernel.

[Whoever seeks to know the truth by measuring it against men becomes utterly ignorant.]

This is a warning about the wrong criterion. If your standard for truth is who said it, if you accept something merely because a famous or holy-looking person uttered it, then you are in the depths of ignorance and misguidance. Humans are fallible. Even righteous people can err. If you tie your faith to personalities, you will be shattered when they fall, or you will follow them into error without realizing it. This is blind imitation driven by emotion, and it is spiritually dangerous.

[Rather, know the truth, and you will recognize its people.]

Instead of judging a teaching by its teacher, judge the teacher by the teaching. First, firmly establish what is objectively true. Once you have internalized that standard, you will automatically recognize who is upon the truth, regardless of their status, reputation, or outward appearance. This protects you from cults, spiritual scams, and personality worship. It frees you to follow truth wherever it is found without idolizing its carriers.

The way i view it, is HPZM is doing the ´stand where they stood, interpret, peel away. ‘

And he is doing it publicly, and this is what makes Zevism directly the essence without excessive shells.

They have to maintain the shell, but the essence is entirely absent.

Thank you High Priest for the Sermon! This specific part, reminded me of those who used Sufism as way to actually preserve the essence while paying for it with corrupting the shell, Sharing my thoughts on this:

The sufis had to put a shell and a husk of islamic theology in place, to avoid extermination. They were aware these practices are unwelcome, and could easily create a target over their heads for extermination by the radical monotheistic views of Islam, which also preaches one should not strive to achieve union with God, but only do slavish worship.

To escape death and persecution, the Sufis in practice, took the spiritual knowledge of ascent and meditation, re-labelled the surface, and to escape persecution and being slayed by Islam, they accredited this to Allah. It's as you state and your post was supreme.

This was their only solution. Now with Zevism, they can join us and achieve mystical states without having to comply for their love of the Divine, under the danger of losing their lives.

Why they created such a guarded system and graded? Because if they find them in Islam they will be accused of Heresy and burned; they have taken the knowledge of pre-Islam Arabia and they apply it. So there has to be very strict checks.

I see Sufis as persecuted brothers and sisters; some have been historically Theophoric, but they had not full context to move forward, as the impeding violence of Islam, would easily classify them as targets for removal from life itself. Some also praised Aristotle etc openly in history. They were studied men and they knew; but they lived in a sea of potential persecution and had to be really defensive.

Lastly, much of Sufism was developed out of writings of the Ancient Greeks, which the Sufis and Arabs have preserved; so they respected them, hid them, and ensured tightly controlled practice.

Theophoric potential exists and it should be respected over there. Zevism can provide all these people clear ladder for ascent.

Thank you, High Priest Zevios! It is so important that we always keep the goal of the Great Work in our hearts, minds, and souls. To reach Godhood was always the highest aim in the true religions of the Gods; Zevism resurrected it in full.

Thank you for this, High Priest, I found it deeply meaningful, especially the way you describe Omoiosis Theo not merely as an ideal, but as an actual process of becoming closer to the Divine.

The Divine is dispassionate and total, precisely because it truly resides within every soul. Becoming like the Gods means progressively bringing our own nature into alignment with that Divine presence within us, through knowledge, discipline, wisdom, devotion, through our actions, closeness to the Gods. It is not simply about believing that the Gods exist, but about recognizing the Divine within ourselves and having the courage and discipline to cultivate it. We are divine beings in the making, and the Gods believe in us.

This is the targeted message.

Great sermon, High Priest Zevios. Humanity must align itself with the greater path that has been set before us since the dawn of mankind. Zevism, at its core, provides the practical side of this not like the “others,” who simply theorize, enslave, and call transcendence a sin.

When all your flesh fails you, and when the darkest darkness falls upon you, always remember the Gods and keep them in your heart. The Faith in the Gods can level mountains. All obstacles that you have today, you have the ability to overcome them. You must know this in full confidence, you must ingrain this in your heart.

Beautiful Sermon High Priest.✨

The difference is extreme, one have to be "blind" to not see this.

Do you see that... That it's your future.

It feels good to not fear the Divine, and knowing that their wish is not to keep us slave, but to elevate us to the highest levels of existence. The more we dig in history, the more we understand how things should be.

Thanks to the Gods, a lot of Ancient Greek literature has survived the Dark Ages. We can learn again the love of the Gods.

Thank you High Priest for everything you do 🙏

Why should the Gods fear anyone, let alone, the person who is a Theophoros and wants to rise to them?

Not only this is not fear, that is total love. They literally give command for people to follow them; not for them to be isolated.

The True All-Powerful, has nothing to fear by any people. Our evolution and deification is his objective and love, not a threat, but the great aim and wish for humans to engage in this.

The Gods show they are all powerful, confident and powerful by saying: Come embark into eternity and creation with us in OPEN INVITATION.

They are not afraid of the Creation, they just tell us to take responsibility and just start going upward the ladder.

Thank you, High Priest, Zevios Metathronos! It is so important that we always keep the goal of the Great Work in our hearts, minds, and souls. In striving toward omoiosis theo, we are invited into a loving ascent, one that does not seek mere achievement, but a deeper harmony with the divine. The Great Work becomes a path of devotion and refinement, where each act of reverence, discipline, and compassion draws us nearer to the Gods. In this way, our journey is not only one of becoming better, but of becoming more aligned with the sacred presence that calls us onward.

Thank you High Priest for this sermon. There is no greater aspiration in the Universe. Nothing more beautiful. I can at times physically feel the yearn for this, as much as it is nigh impossible to fully conceptualize and understand yet.

I am an Aspiring God, and so are you.

O Gods of the first dawn, Gods of Hellas and of Khem, of the rivers of Sumer and the snows of the North, of every people that once knelt before the true and the bright:
I declare before You and before the witness of all the heavens that Your Names are restored. Restored truly. Restored rightly. Restored in their power and their majesty and their original splendor.

Thank you High Priest Zevios Metathronos!

Coming into Zevism, realising that our purpose is to be close to the Gods, learning and evolving at the side of such divinity, I've never felt alone or hopeless ever since. All my experiences are close to my heart and it is very very true, we must reach out and go towards Them, never losing sight of our divine parentage and potential 💛🙏
