I was reading about him and found that he had spoken positively about then in some of his works..? Is this for real or were his works altered?

Nearly every translation, and even german copies, of his books have been copied, edited, and translated by you-know-whos. Then these are the copies which all other copies are based on. Kaufman is a good example of this, he's the one who did most of the translations, and they're all 100% garbage that have almost nothing to do with what was actually written.

Look up the new translations by Thomas Wayne, published by Algora Publishing. These are amazingly accurate to Nietzsche's actual work. These are the only Nietzsche translations that I could ever recommend. All others are garbage.

No, and I don't speak german so I can't translate it if I did have the original. I have read a bunch of articles that compared different translations and talked about how accurate they are. Many of them changed things, left things out, and are written in a way that is hard to read. Many of them left out parts that talked bad about christianity.
