Mental Illness

Statistically speaking, most people experience mental illness, of one form or another, at least once in their lives. This can range from serious psychiatric disorders like: sociopathic, schizophrenia, bipolar, psychosis, etc. More common conditions like: depression, paranoia, phobias are more prevalent. We've all seen it in the train and bus, people talking to themselves, or standing on the street corner, yelling out about the apocalypse etc.

If you have been to a psychiatric hospital, like I have to visit someone, then you will be told at every visit: "Don't speak to the other inmates. If they speak to you, then NEVER, NEVER agree with or encourage their delusions!"

I have spent a bit of time going over some posts here concerning so called infiltrators and trolls, and they all seem to operate under similar delusions. They are desperate to make a certain point, or that people urgently need to be alerted to a certain problem. This is an expression of their own mental disorder, effecting their judgement and surfacing in the form of abusive or threatening behaviour.

I have read the reactions of members here to infiltrators amounting almost to: "Repell borders, starboard side!"...and a scramble for the weapons locker! This is simply not the appropriate reaction. It only enforces the person's resolve to assert their point, and encourages them to react in an aggressive manner. The appropriate response would be to tell them to express themselves in a careful and respectful manner - or simply ignore them.

There are many different causes of mental illness, of which I don't have the time or qualifications to explain here. Anyone who is without and is not meditating, is at best, under some form of mental distress, and technically speaking, not sane.
