This poll for men is for me to understand where everyone is regarding your yoga practice, to help me decide priority levels for posts to write.

Please select honestly. This is anonymous, and not a competition.

Is yoga necessary for spiritual advancement?

I usually do Hatha but haven’t done any in a month.

I prefer vibrations and meditation in general.

I used to practice Hatha yoga for an hour or more each day, following the exercises that Pythia recommended. However, I no longer practice because I don’t have enough space. I have a copy of Yoga by Niguma and plan to practice the exercises, but for now, I’m sticking with meditation yoga-dhyana.

Can't do this poll, i sometimes skip yoga and generally do 1 hour (in total) of hata yoga and kundalini yoga. I skip it and this is because i feel like it's to much and need rest like when doing camping, i feel like a pause is necesary.

Check my signature to find my link with all my yoga posts, I have written many times about how it is necessary for advancement, so many times that I wish there were a facepalm reaction to react to your question with. Lady Pythia also wrote this in the ToZ.

Very few people can get by with other practices, but the vast majority of us need yoga.

Do you not have a bed? I wrote a routine that can be done in bed. Other asanas can be done with a space of 3x1 feet, literally. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Dear High Priestess,

I love yoga and cannot dream of a life without it. Even though I had multiple long periods where I neglected it, I was never under the impression that it was optional. So, my question is purely for the sake of more knowledge.

Could you elaborate on what you mean here? Does it take a special kind of person, constitution or something else? Secondly, are there any particular "yoga-substitute" (and I am using this term very liberally, I know it does not really apply and probably is in no way ideal) practices that would take precedence in someone who does not do yoga?

Again, I would like to know purely as reference, and not to work myself up into a delusion or anything - I know I particularly get a ton out of yoga and I suffer immensely when I neglect it. My questions are just to develop more theoretical knowledge, expertise, etc. in order to be equipped to help and inform even one more person in the long term.

Thank you in advance for your wisdom.

Good question, thanks for asking so I can clarify.

Ancient yogis said certain types of people don't need yoga, these are the types who are more mundane, newer souls (for now). At some point they may require yoga to advance the body more, to prepare for more spiritual power.

Additionally, we have some members who told me they prefer Qigong over yoga.

Pilates, as it helps to rejuvenate and strengthen the body and is more appealing to less spiritual people. Qigong, Tai Chi, etc.

Even if you dont do yoga, you need to get acquainted with it, because when you go through kundalini awakening you need to release energy many times from your solar plexus area, or you wont be able to function, basic things like sleeping wont be as well experienced and you might experience insanity. I found that by doing the basic timed breathing exercise standing up and with the spine completely stretched straight and slightly backwards will induce immense relief from energy stuck on the solar plexus area, and I actually fainted 3 times over the years from overdoing it.

But I will be completely honest with you before kundalini awakening I practicaly didnt do yoga. I found it does nothing if you dont have the serpent breath premeate your entire body.

Thank you for your quick response, High Priestess.

I will ask a few more things springing from your answers, sorry to impose on your time. These are less foundational and urgent, so please feel free to set them aside if there are more important things occupying your time.

Based on your answers, I do suppose that newer souls are also not as drawn to yoga as an older soul would be, yes? We are also told to listen to our intuition in terms of spiritual practice, so would these people still benefit from going against their "desires" and just gritting their teeth and doing yoga anyway - or would they benefit more from the other practices you are mentioning? I am sure that at some point, their souls would burgeon and blossom and they would start to perceive the effects of yoga more readily though.

Also, since you are counting Qigong, Tai Chi and what not as sort of yoga substitutes, does that mean they are categorically inferior to yoga, or do they also have aspects of the soul they serve better? I am asking as someone who has never done Qigong (unless we count some basic Microcosmic Orbit exercises from Mantak Chia's books that I incorporated into my practice) or Tai Chi.

Thank you in advance again, whenever you decide to answer.

I can't not do Hatha yoga. Like, I feel very bad if I do too little. For example, health problems arise, mood swings, headaches, etc.

I do about 60 minutes a day, and I only do this because I must get other things done, like rituals, workings, and meditations

I should also mention that this is divided into 3 - 4 sessions.

A typical day will look like this:

Morning - Heart Chakra Yoga
Lunch - Throat Chakra Yoga
Late afternoon- Solar or Sacral Chakra Yoga
Evening - Standard PDF Yoga

On gym days, I sometimes have to take one of those out for time, but still.

Unfathomably based. I envy you, NG. May I catch up.

I'm not able to answer the poll. I do about 30 minutes of yoga daily. At the moment I'm focusing on whats called intelligent movement to loosen my hips so I'll be able to sit in Siddhasana for longer while meditating and also hold other asanas correctly.

I need to start doing it again...

Thank you for this High Priestess. I have some physical limitations right now and this bed routine is perfect.

I like Yoga with Adriene or Yoga for BJJ as my main sources. If I slack off for too long ... it does not go well. Yoga helps with every area of life, for me personally at least.
