Depends on what do you mean by that. If you expect him to magically make your life good from one day to another, it's not gonna happen.

You can connect to him, learn about him etc, even before dedication.
With the dedication you ask him to guide you so that is when you ask him to "heal" your life.

I don’t expect a magic cure though I do need his guidance to possibly make life more bearable if possible

It will happen with time. Pushing forward despite of the pain will make you stronger. Sooner or later the pain will go away and you will be able to see at things with more clarity.
