But it's even better when you look past all the icons and symbolism and get into WHY they are what they are in xtianity. Goats are freaking awesome. If you're in the middle ages and you've got a goat, you'll have great milk, great meat, and great cheese, and they all go together really well too. They can live anywhere, eat anything, and are great company (if challenging to manage) because they are so independent, exactly the same with cats. If you're a goatherd in a bad point in human history, you can wave good-bye to the world and never look back. Needless to say, the Jew financiers and Catholic overlords did not approve in the slightest. "Sheep" is all you really need to say about their livestock preferences.
