Astrological Confusion: Tropical or Sidereal

I am really getting confused as to how to interpret the planetary lineups in my natal chart. When I use the tropical system, I have positive planetary placements but when using the Sidereal Vedic method I get totally different lineup. The latter does not seem to ring true of my personality at all. I am a beginner at astrology and this is really upsetting. I understand that astrology is mostly of fate, but with knowing the correct planets in my chart I need those for magical timing as I know the properties of the planetary energies. When certain planets transit over the ruling signs in my chart I can direct their energies. Confused though. Vedic Astrology with the equinox recession in pisces, or tropical with arise. Please help anyone.
