My cat was my best friend. I loved him so much. He died unexpectedly, probably from a heart attack, and now everything feels empty and cold without him. My room feels too big. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he won't be there to purr when I wake up. I'm starting to question my faith and find it hard to meditate because all I can think about is this. How can I process this grief in a less painful way? And most importantly, I don't want to drift away from Zeus, but I'm in so much pain right now.

Meditate on your love for your cat, and remember and appreciate the moments you did have. Make this a ceremonial thing, which will offer catharsis and closure, like setting milk aside in a bowl and putting it in the same usual area, or lighting a candle, all while intending positive things for the cat's soul. Do something like this in remembrance, 9 days as a gesture to signify moving on, or 40 days if you feel the need.

Do the Ritual to Anubis and politely ask Him to help your cat reincarnate, and to protect it in its next life.

Ask Father Zeus in prayer to return the cat to you in its next life, and it might happen after a while.

But besides all this, take your time to grieve. It's reasonable to be sad in this situation, and if you stop fighting these feelings, you'll find yourself being more productive sooner.

Your familiar's soul is safe and protected by the Gods, do not forget this. Animals reincarnate, and it is probable for you to be reunited again with him in the future.

Here is a thread about this very occurrence: https://ancient-forums.com/threads/do-animals-reincarnate.88435/#post-457075

Rather than drifting away from Father Zeus, this is a time to become even closer to Him and the Gods. Let them guide you through this grieving process, and help you to process it in a healthy way. Allow them to reassure you that your beloved cat is safe and protected, for of course this is the case for a Zevist's familiar. The cycle of death and reincarnation is a natural process which the Gods oversee for us and our loved ones.

May the Gods bless your familiar's soul!

Death is a natural event, just as it is normal to be “psycho-physically bereaved.” Many of our Gods teach and show us the importance of life cycles.

Cats are under the protection of the Gods, your cat will reincarnate and live a new cycle, a new life. Be strong and keep moving forward and living your life.

I am very sorry for your loss, I understand that it can be painful. Your cat is now in the hands of the Gods, who are taking care of him and are marvellous; I hope that this awareness may bring you at least a little comfort.

You can speak formally and respectfully to the Goddess Bastet, through Her Ritual, and ask for Her support in protecting the soul of your cat. If you feel a sincere and deep bond with him, you may consider asking to be given the chance to meet your cat again in his next reincarnation.

I'm very sorry you've had to go through this. I'm a cat lover myself, and I've had to go through what you're doing right now several times already. I know it's hard and it hurts a lot, but it will get better. Loss is always difficult, whether it's a loved family member, a close friend or a beloved pet, it's never easy.

All I can say is try and stay as close to the Gods as you can: this is one of those points in your life where you're gonna need them more than ever. Know as well that despite how much it hurts now, as time passes the pain will fade, and eventually you'll be able to remember the good times you had with your beloved cat without it hurting.
