Workings for Grounding and focus

Hello guys,
I would like to share and gather more suggestions of what might help if someone struggles with lack of grounding and focus.

1) Move in the morning since that can stabilize energy levels as soon as the day starts, so you have more control over your mind.

2) I used an "s" (kind of an hissing sound but a "normal" "s" works too in my experience) mantra to stimulate the root chakra for grounding + visualizing the root as a cone with the point upwards spinning in white light.

3) I wanna try this but...enter a light trance state before studying so my mind is less running. Maybe study right after void meditation.

4) I knew I could use the Isa rune for concentration and grounding, but I don't know if there are other runes that I can either direct at my root to strengthen it or in general runes for grounding and focus.

What do you think?

I like your suggestions. I have done 1 and 3 and they are especially effective.

As for grounding, you can use Odal.
Hello!

Am I missing something from the rune Page regarding Odal? I've read the summary, however it doesn't say anything about it helping with grounding is this new information that hasn't been added yet?

Do you have any links by any chance?

Thanks!

I think his point is that Odal, in its essence, is a Rune of stillness, non-movement, roots (etymologically connected to grounding, putting your roots down to Earth), unlike Fehu a dynamic Rune, if you look at this passage of ToZ Rune page:

"Unlike Fehu, this rune represents property that is rooted and not mobile, a putting down of roots."

I personally tried this after Helleniser mentioned it, I could feel a pulling down feeling energetically (not sure if I used the right words). I didn't insist too much on this method, but I think it's not wrong.

As far as the ToZ site goes, Isa seems more specialized for stillness, calm and concentration (if you have issue concentrating in a task and/or you are hyperactive), but be careful:

"On a more positive note, this rune is helpful in void meditation as it acts to still and is also helpful in concentration, bringing calmness and guidance. Care needs to be taken, as the rune can also make the user dull and/or obsessive. Isa works to calm hysteria, hyperactivity, and restlessness."
(Source: ToZ site).

I think there is a bit of nuance in there, depending on your needs. I personally think that Isa is more of a rune to calm restlessness, the opposite of Fire Energy. Fire is volatile and definitely not still. An hyperactive person is also not still, jumping from movement to another, one thought to another, not staying still. Ice (Isa) is the opposite: static, cold (the molecules of Water, in ice are fixed in a grid, they are not as free to move as in the other states of matter).
So, if you want to stay still and calm down an hyperactive mind that loses control, go for Isa (but be careful not too much).

Odal is in my opinion more on connectedness with Ancestry and Roots. The way ToZ puts it, this is more about discovering who you are, past lives, your land, your ancestry, your Roots in a genealogical sense, so to speak.
But Roots can also mean connectedness to the Earth, opposed to the Astral, being grounded to Reality, but not sure if this applies to Odal.

I can try research in Runeological studies if this Rune was ever used for grounding as in connectedness to Earth to prevent being stuck on the Astral and losing your touch to Reality.

Hi. Interesting suggestion! I want to try that, valuable comment!
Also I feel there's a difference between grounding and focus. What helps a lot with focus is practicing daily alternate nostril breathing.

For grounding you could also try 54321 technique:
Before starting this exercise, pay attention to your breathing. Slow, deep, long breaths can help you maintain a sense of calm or help you return to a calmer state. Once you find your breath, go through the following steps to help ground yourself:

5: Acknowledge FIVE things you see around you. It could be a pen, a spot on the ceiling, anything in your surroundings.

4: Acknowledge FOUR things you can touch around you. It could be your hair, a pillow, or the ground under your feet.

3: Acknowledge THREE things you hear. This could be any external sound. If you can hear your belly rumbling that counts! Focus on things you can hear outside of your body.

2: Acknowledge TWO things you can smell. Maybe you are in your office and smell pencil, or maybe you are in your bedroom and smell a pillow. If you need to take a brief walk to find a scent you could smell soap in your bathroom, or nature outside.

1: Acknowledge ONE thing you can taste. What does the inside of your mouth taste like—gum, coffee, or the sandwich from lunch?
