Scientists have uncovered fresh clues that could explain why men typically don't live as long as women.

Research suggests this is linked to the loss of the Y chromosome, which can cause the heart muscle to scar and can lead to deadly heart failure. An estimated 40% of 70-year-olds suffer from the loss of this male sex chromosome, but they could benefit from an existing drug that targets dangerous tissue scarring. Chromosomes are bundles of DNA in each cell which come in pairs. Women have two X chromosomes, while men have an X and a Y chromosome.

Professor Kenneth Walsh, from the University of Virginia, said, "Particularly past age 60, men die more rapidly than women. It's as if they biologically age more quickly. This new research provides clues as to why men have shorter lifespans than women."

Pirfenidone may help counteract the harmful effects of the chromosome loss, University of Virginia (UVA) researcher Kenneth Walsh said. Many men begin to lose their Y chromosome in a fraction of cells as they age - something which appears to be particularly true for smokers. Scientists previously found men who suffer Y chromosome loss are more likely to die at a younger age and suffer age-related conditions such as Alzheimer's.

The new research is believed to be the first hard evidence the chromosome loss directly causes harmful effects to men's health. Researchers used gene-editing technology to develop a special mouse model to better understand the effects of Y chromosome loss in the blood. They found the loss accelerated age-related diseases and made the mice more prone to heart scarring and led to earlier death. The researchers also looked at the effects of Y chromosome loss in human men, conducting three analyses of data compiled from the UK Biobank study. They found Y chromosome loss was associated with cardiovascular disease and heart failure.

As chromosome loss increased, so did the risk of death, the researchers found. They said their findings suggest targeting the effects of Y chromosome loss could help men live longer, healthier lives. The findings are published in the Science journal.

Men are more likely to do very physically difficult work that damages his body every day, and causes hundreds of small injuries that never heal or they keep getting worse for years. Men are more likely to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes, or to consume larger amounts of these than women do. Men are more likely to have jobs where they are always exposed to very dangerous chemicals or contaminations.

All of these things are making the entire body weaker, damaging to all of the organs, and causing genetic damage that speeds up aging.

This does appear to be an entirely made up situation really. My grandmother had almost a dozen brothers.

Out of all her brothers, 2 died young, while 8 of them outlived her by many years. My grandmother passed away at age 86. 4 of her brothers made it past 90, while the other 4 lived to age 88. One of them, her oldest brother passed away at age 94.

They were healthy men up to the final year, even into the final year of their life, not bedridden and frail, but able to remain active, go on walks outside and take care of themselves.

All of them were farmers most of their lives, living a life of labour and hard physical work, yet this only seemed to have tempered them and allowed them to remain strong when they reached their old age.

I think the reason why this illusion exists that woman have longer lifespans than men, is because men are often older than their partner.

As a result the men pass away before their partner, leaving the woman a widow for the last few years of her life as she catches up to her husbands age of death.

This creates the illusion that woman always outlive men, while in reality the actual age difference is maybe a few years at best, or even none at all.

Hail Satan!

The superpause (menopause) of women is also a difficult and dangerous situation for them. However, in reality it is not a question of any pause but of the end and atrophy of female fertility and also of female characteristics. It is a process as cursed as old age.

I am not saying that women should be fertile non-stop to infinity, on the contrary we must create genetic modifications to put women or men into real breaks, and when they want to procreate, they become fertile again and so on. Like, stopping and restoring when they want spermatogenesis or ovulation. Humans are not microbes or chickens, so we need these things.

Both old age and other things are nothing but limitations to overcome.

People with little knowledge say stupid things like, old age is natural. Wait for it, damn it. What does natural mean? It means real and possible. OK. So sickness and death are also natural, that doesn't mean we have to desire and accept this nonsense. What is old age? Limitations on reproduction and regeneration of cells and tissues.
