Over a year and a quarter ago, I drank. My drink of choice was beer and not just any whimpy light beer; I perfered full bodied German style beers that had a fairly high alcohol content and each bottle contained 300 or more calories. Now, I was not what you could classify as an alcoholic but I was a moderate daily drinker. I knew it fogged my mind but the worse thing was it was making me fat. I had developed a beer-gut (belly fat) - it wasn't pretty and I knew it raised my chances of diabetes, so I decided to quit. I made a non-negotiable pact with myself that I would quit immediately.
Now, I had talked to Dr. Cass MD once about my mother's insomnia and I owned her book: "Natural Highs" and I remembered she had a chapter on addiction and how to stop cravings.
Well, in her book she recommends that L Glutamine can reduce or eliminate cravings for alcohol.
She recommended to many of her patients to take 500mg capsules of Glutamine powder - break it open and put it under your tongue and let it dissolve. This puts it into your bloodstream quickly and is taken to your brain where it balances brain chemicals and reduces or elimnates cravings for alcohol.
I tried it, it worked. Within four days I no longer wanted to drink and haven't every since.
She has testimonials in her book on this. One women stopped her drinking immediately and was successful in quiting, she was so thrilled she called it a "magic-powder" that was easily available over the counter and called it a miracle and she wanted evyone to know about it.
Another, man used L Glutamine and was freeded from alcohol within a month - he lost all his cravings, he even found beer in his refrigerator that he had not drank - he had completely forgot about it.
Now I can attest that L Glutamine helped me, but if someone is a severve alcoholic an abrupt stopping of alcohol could cause DT's ( delirium tremens) and send them to the psycho-ward. Severe alcoholics have to taper off slowly and many need to be hospitalized. but Glutamine may help.
I can not guarantee that this will work for everyone as everybody has an unique biological profile, but it is worth trying.
I also, want to recommend Dr. Hyla Cass MD's and Patrick Holford's book: "Natural Highs", -'Supplements, Nutrition, and Mind-Body Techniques To Help You Feel Good All the Time'".
Glutamine is readily available at vitamin and nutrition stores and body building shops. The loose powder is cheaper but the capsules are convenient and easy to take with you.
Lastly, and I have to laugh I also, found a bottle of beer I had not drank months later. I steamed some bratwursts with it and relished my success in stopping drinking.
Hail Satan
