One of my housemates basically is saying that the movie being so popular is causing the human consciousness to go screwball, and favor grey energy among other nasty side effects. Is this true?

it appeals to the sexual side of people, mostly women so far. it's not a good message: from every review and statement I have read in regards, the movie is, "he's rich and abusive, I think I can change him", or, "I'm rich and abusive, everyone needs to get over it".
as for grey energy, not entirely certain about that side
