Telekinesis issue, can only swing pendulum

Ok so I am interested in telekinesis. Seems fun. Anyways, I can deing my pendulum, gently, using my mind. My guardian also said any string I can touch, I should be able to move. However, I cannot seem to move anything else. Even lightweight Legos, too much resistance to move, apparently.

Where do I go from here? I am confused.
