Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone new the benefits of tea, I've seen a few posts on twitter about how certain types of tea can help a lot of things so I thought I'd check here :) also if anyone can recommend healthy natural teas as well :)
HAIL SATAN!!!!

I have heard Green Tea is a good help in burning fat. But haven't read any research about it.

The question you are asking is like asking "What are the benefits of herbs?"
A tea is an infusion of water and a crushed or whole plant. I guess your question is pertaining to what are the health benefits of drinking certain tea infusions; What herb teas benefit the body and overall health?
Herbs and plants can be taken in the form of teas, tinctures and of course capsule form (Ingesting the whole form) There are differences in taking them in different forms though some herbs are best taken in tea form. Tinctures, they say, are easier assimilated and absorbed in the body and some people just feel taking the whole herb is superior amongst all three ways of taking.
Are you asking for a tea for longevity or just for a specific problem, My favorite tea to drink for overall balance is Astragalus. It is an immune stimulator and so fourth. There are so many herbs with different energies and purposes that stimulate us in different ways. I like to add raw honey to it or drink it straight.
Herbs taken in tea form are effective and calming.

Yeah....I didn't really think the question through haha
As for a tea, I'd really just like a body cleanser, I've bought that kefir you talked about in a previous post and I read that it really helps your intestine/digestion, so if there's a tea or herb that helps clean your body, I'm veeeeery new when it comes to herbs.

@Thompson1926
So you bought the kefir grains or kefir beverage? Im happy you looked into kefir.
Yeah, kefir is pretty good stuff. Its strong too so its best to go little slow about two tablespoons a day and then working your way up. Its possible you will have a healing reaction happen. When the digestive system starts to heal and the lining of the gut started to repair, you might notice some flatulence and or diarrhea but his is a good thing as the body is expelling old waste and toxins. The kefir helps to clean the system too.
As for teas and overall body cleansing, I would go with teas that cleanse the liver and blood and lymph. The  liver, blood and lymph moves and transports wastes from the body and removes them. There are many ways to remove and cleanse the body but I since the Liver and blood and lymph moves and transports waste toxins, and the liver being the filter, you can focus on them for starters. Clean blood and a high immune system are one of the ways to keep yourself healthy. Yoga also helps to move the lymph by means of activity and moving the limbs.
Now as for what I mentioned about herbs and teas, you can take an herb in tea, tincture or capsule form. You can choose that.
Herbs for cleansing the blood and Liver and moving the lymph:
Milk thistle powerful liver cleanser and rejuvenator
Schizandra (great for the immune system and organs and liver)
Dandelion, a traditional liver stimulant Yellow dock (great for skin and blood)
Red Root, great for cleaning the lymph nodes
Manjistha, declogs the lymph system
Chaparral, good blood 'detergent' and cleanser
Astragalus, good immune booster and stimulant
There are many herbs. Red clover is good for the blood but it is also high in phytoestrogens and xenoestrogens mimics are everywhere so you can do without.
I take these tincture and bitter before breakfast lunch and or dinner. Good for the blood and Liver.
Has been very effective. I get them from this website.

I bought the kefir beverage and I'm also looking into where I can buy kombucha :)

Thank you a lot Shannon!

I will! :) also another quick question, does it really matter when you take the herbs, I bought schizandra and yellow dock in capsule form so do I have to take them before every meal? :)

Usually its best to take with some water before a meal to aid with absorption. When you take before a meal and then eat, it helps with the herbs to get fully digested with the food. :)
You bought the herbs already? ;) That was quick!
And feel free to ask as many questions as you like. This is a health group :) There is no limit to how ,many questions that go around. You are male, right?

All in all, the most important thing is to actually take the herbs when you can.

Ahh ok thank you! :)

Haha well when I read what benefits they have I immediately searched for some website where I can buy them ;D I wasn't able to buy kombucha because I need this....thing called a scoby and I have no idea where to get one :p

And yes I am.

Dont forget to increase the amount of pure water you drink so to help facilitate healing. Helps to clear toxins from the body faster.

On the topic of taking things before meals, is it ok to take magnesium before a meal? I thought it would help with absorption but then I read that magnesium neutralizes stomach acid so probably wouldn't be good to take with meals?

Also, is decaffeinated green tea as healthy as regular green tea? Or does the process they use to decaffeinate it take away some of the health benefits?

On the subject of decaffeinated or caffeinated tea, It all depends on you.
Some people just don't like the stimulants in caffeine and some people don't mind it; Its just preference. Good to limit or stay away from caffeine during pregnancy.
If you choose to get decaffeinated, make sure it is naturally decaffeinated and organic because non organic decaffeinated tea is decaffeinated with harsh chemicals that are not necessary and not good.

As far as I know, organic decaffeinated tea does not mess with antioxidant level but each company has ways of doing that so you can only guess. I just stick with the caffeinated and unhampered with, just in case.
I don't have any caffeine sensitive or anything so its fine for me.

From what I know, it is not good to drink lots of water or any beverage before a meal because it dilutes the digestive and stomach acids. It is best to separate drinking with eating. I usually drink water or a drink 20-30 mins before a meal or 20-30 minutes afterwards. And when I do drink with a meal, it is with kombucha (has beneficial acids and enzymes and bacteria) or raw milk which has beneficial bacteria and enzymes.
About Magnesium; Magnesium helps with people who have very high acid problems like acid reflux and such. It normalizes and stabilizes it. On the other hand, Magnesium will not be absorbable if you have low stomach acid already such as seniors who take antacids and other drugs. Certain things decrease stomach acid in the body. But for the average person, stomach acid shouldn't be a huge problem. It is important to have normal acid levels in the stomach anyway because magnesium, like many other minerals need acid to form an absorbable salt.
To balance your stomach acid, drink things like kombucha, which is acidic, has enzymes and bacteria thats good for digestion, organic raw milk or organic milk, kefir is good and even drinking water and organic squeezed lemon juice helps with the stomach acid and even taking a good enzyme supplement.
Magnesium is responsible for hundreds of biochemical happenings in the body. Most things are depleted of Magnesium and so it will do nothing but benefit your body. I do not go through menstrual cramps or anything since changing my diet and adding magnesium. Either way I don't worry about taking Magnesium before or with meals. Just make sure you keep your stomach acids at a healthy normal level.
The Magnesium I take as supplementation is in the form of Magnesium citrate or Magnesium glycerinate. This helps with maximum absorption. Vitamin B-6 aids in the absorption.

I personally found it is good to take it in the evening before sleeping, it helps to sleep better.
