Hey bros,
I have some suggestions for those of you who are big on your privacy.
these suggestions deal with malware, internet security, network encryption, and general practices.

To protect your computer from malware have antivirus software installed. I think the best one is avast antivirus. u can get it at this link
http://www.avast.com/index. Then u can download and install it.

To Protect your computer from hackers and to secure your privacy i would do several things.
Use a firewall, encrypt your internet connection with an ssl vpn, and keep all your software up to date.

For your firewall i would choose comodo free firewall or zonealarm free firewall. just be sure to configure the settings properly.
u can download them by clicking on the following links.

http://www.comodo.com/ click on where it says products at the top left and then click comodo firewall. from there u can download the free one. be sure to configure the firewalls settings and defense+ settings correctly and follow prompts to stay secure and free from malware.
another alternative
http://www.zonealarm.com/
just click on free download. this one is easier to use i think but a lil less secure.

keeping all your computer software up to date is also ideal.
u can download the filehippo update checker. It scans for programs on your computer that need updating. heres the link
http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/

For general computer cleansing use ccleaner.
download link is http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

and also a very very good idea to prevent your computer from being hacked and your online communication from being spied on is an ssl vpn service. There is a decent one from avast. its called avast secure line. ive tried others and they suck. this one is really decent. The only downside to encryption and security such as ssl vpn is that u have to pay for it. but the good thing is if u have the money and care about your online security its not expensive. it 9.99 a month and i have found it to be very decent. u can order it on the avast website i think its better to call. u will need a debit/credit card tho. u can pay by the month. just be sure to opt out of auto renewal on the website. i think its well worth it and that all those who can afford it should get it. the link is
http://www.avast.com/secure-line-vpn
The details of the vpn are on the page.
I do seriously believe this product can do wonders when it comes to thwarting hackers and securing your internet traffic. Try it out.

and thats it.
thank you to all those who have read this.

Here's my take.
Want privacy?
- Get rid of Windows, use Linux, for total privacy use Live CD and not installed distro.
- If want to use Windows, then use TrueCrypt [free] and encypt whole hard drive, one "panic" password to give if authorities come at you so you give them something, and in fake drive it creates put some PDF's, some pictures and some documents. You then make your real password for real work at lest 15 characters long, including UppErAndLoWerK3yS with numbers and symbols.
-For AV, if you're novice, use Webroot Security Essentials [paid], or Avast/MSE free.
-If you're advanced enough, use Comodo 6 BETA [pretty stable, using it myself] and configure it for maximum lockdown, and enable full virtualisation. Otherwise, familiarize with sandboxie
-Cleaning viruses, use HitmanPro, Malwarebytes AntiMalware, Emsisoft Emergency Toolkit, Norton Power Eraser, and Super AntiSpyware

-For free VPN, use http://www.justfreevpn.com/

I concur with FileHippo Checker.

If you want ABSOLUTE anonymity.... It does NOT exist!
Just kidding :p It does :)

Stay safe and A S K questions if you have them. There are NO stupid questions at all. If anything of this is complicated, Danyl and others will render assistance, including me.

P.S. ZoneAlarm can be heavy on certain systems, so beware.
And if you have slower machines, cloud antiviruses might be a good to go.
P.S. There is no 100% protection, anything humanmade CAN and WILl be broken eventually, you want to use your computer, not to enter passwords every time you move the mouse.

Want simple? Panda Cloud Free + Sandboxie Free + PrivateFirewall Free

Excellent advice. Everybody should have ccleaner for sure.

https://privacy.io/ is a $7 a month pay as you go personal VPN.
Cheap and they use paypal. You can pay 3 months or more, as you wish.

If you want a one time charge, you can buy
http://www.hide-my-ip-address.com/hideip/
This is a browser based on firefox that costs $30.
One time charge and hooks up to a TOR network.
It is very secure but can be very slow and is not for you if you are impatient.
I use COMODO firewall and antivirus, I have found it to use less resources than the other free programs.

My two cents.

Hail Satan!
