Samhain with 2 people

AvatarFrancophone1 min to read

Greetings,

On the 31st of october, I will meet an IRL zevist friend for Samhain. I will lead the ceremony.

On the ToZ page about Genesia/Mundus Patet/Samhain, at the "Celebrating as a Gathering" section, there are 10 roles to be attributed. But we are only two. How to mitigate this issue and have a great Samhain anyway ?

By advance, thanks for your help.

Hi, Brother Francophone!

To create a great atmosphere, various decorations with appropriate music will help you tune in to the celebration of Samhain.

You can celebrate Samhain not only at home, or in nature (for example, around a campfire, or on a walk), you can combine these options.

Autumn with cool (or cold air) at dusk under sunset, or an open moon also creates a cool atmosphere.

The first part of the celebration can be spent outdoors, and the second part at home.

«You will find on the left of the halls of Hades a spring, and standing by it a white cypress. Do not approach this spring at all. You will find another, from the Lake of Memory, with cold water flowing from it. Guardians stand before it. Say: 'I am a child of Earth and starry Heaven, but my race is of Heaven alone. You know this yourselves. I am parched with thirst and am perishing. Give me quickly the cold water flowing from the Lake of Memory.' And they will give you to drink from the sacred spring, and after that you will reign among the other heroes» - From the Petelia Tablet (300-200 BCE)

Celebrating as a gathering is exactly as it sounds, these are instructions explicitly for a larger group of people. That being said, you're not precluded from having your own personal celebration/ceremony in respect to the nature of the holiday. High Priestess Lydia's post from Samhain last year regards many of the most common aspects and aesthetics. In short, there's nothing stopping from two people having a great Samhain.

Decorate, perform the Psalms if you like, have a bonfire, eat sweets, enjoy the social occasion, pay respect to the departed, the sky's the limit.
