Since this working deals with healing emotional pain,I was wondering what if the emotional pain has already push your brain into a defence mechanism mode by blocking your emotions,will the working still work

In the majority of cases, yes.

I'm guessing you refer to some kind of working with Wunjo. From my experience Wunjo has a quality of gently coaxing out your emotions and subsequentially healing traumas. So imo it should totally work.
