Why do I subconciously find women who are dominant, cold, selfish, and emotionally abusive attractive?

It's not that I choose this. But I get to know someone and we have chemistry between the both of us. We treat each other well. Then after the beginnings they go cold, abusive, toxic, emd up betraying me etc.

It's a common pattern with me. I am starting to think maybe I am the problem? I am attracted to strong women and femdom sexually. But I certainly don't want evil people that betray and hurt me either.

So what can this be about? How to go about solving it as it has become a tiresome and painful pattern. To the point I doubt my abilities to properly fall in love with a suitable partner for my tastes and have them be kind hearted too.

If you find these women attractive, chances are that you grew up with a mother who had the same character: dominant, selfish, emotionally abusive e.t.c. Men who keep getting into abusive relationships with women have had an abusive mother in most cases.

By the way this Idea I know from dear lady Shadowcat, this was for other type of situation but I think it may be suitable for your case. These people you describe are looking for specific victims. At first they seem normal, caring and loving, then they become selfish, cold and abusive. The perfect victims of these people are:

• People who tend to devalue themselves.
• People who continually need validation from others.
• Servant people who are willing to override their own needs for those of others.
• Lonely people.
• People who were unloved in childhood.
• People who seek a known pattern (one of the parents was abusive).

Do you see yourself in anything?

It's a good thing that you are able to break these relationships in time, but there are some individuals who have stronger than normal manipulative abilities, and it could become dangerous to approach these types all the time.
