Postpartum depression and motherhood.

AvatarRenita1 min to read

I often hear other women say that after they gave birth, there would be times where they could not stand to look or be near their child. Most say this is caused by postpartum depression and I was wondering if it could truly be that, or if postpartum depression is just a modern issue? I do not want to seem rude to mothers who do go through that but would like to know so I could be prepared in the future.

Postpartum depression is real and multifactorial. Diet, personal experience, and birth-related factors can all influence risk. Experiences such as birth trauma, including separation of mother and baby or lack of support from family or a partner, limited skin-to-skin contact, cesarean delivery, and choosing not to breastfeed may be associated with a higher likelihood of postpartum depression, particularly in individuals with a pre-existing vulnerability to mental health conditions.

The type of pregnancy you had will also be a factor, whether it was relaxing or stressful, for example.

That's why pregnant women and post-partum mothers should be treated like the golden flowers that they are.

Thank you!

Me and my fiance have been talking about what to be prepared for when we are able to have children, and I wanted to make sure that I would be fully prepared and know how to properly bring a child into this world :)
