my own personal flame meditation question

why i name this subject as it is

is because i want to ask stuff on my own and want some perpective as to if i am doing this right or not

if i am doing something right tell me

if i am doing something wrong tell me and give me advice on how to correct myself if needed

so for one thing if you haven't guessed it i decided to use this as my meditation program. i have add and other attention span issues so i picked this one to help improve my focus as most stuff i asked in the group in the past on this seem to indicate that it helps improve focus.

sometimes when i stare at the candle i can't tell if its been 2 minutes. i do not always use a flame candle sometimes i use an electric one. i had to get a replacement electric one as my other electric one i used to have broke.

although ive been told electric or not either way is fine for this.

when i get to step 2

i can sometimes (but not always) see a small or slightly bigger (but not bigger by much mind you) red dot like thingy and it goes around and about as my eyes are closed and hands are in a cupped position (not sure what cupped is but i have been putting hands over eyes for this part mind you though). my eyes where closed of course.

the thing is that sometimes i am not sure if i get it up to four minutes like it says in step 2. other times i know for sure i did not get that. other times i do okay and the red dot thingy appears.

but

even then it does not usually stay (the red dot i mean) around for as long as 4 minutes.

either way if i can get it and keep it there once it goes away i try to then relax, empty thoughts best i can by concentrating on breathing.

what am i doing wrong or is it supposed to be like this?

can someone please help ive been wondering about this for some time now.
