Meditation help (newb)

I need help with entering trances, meditating, and going into a deep trance. I think Im doing it wrong. I follow the steps the JoS site is telling me but I just dont feel the free fall. I visualize myself on a ladder but when I let go no free fall sensation. Can any one plz help?

Theres many different methods if you wish i can speak with you on these or you can always just try to enter a trance by zoning out or doing something that relaxes you to the point of zoning.

you probably are actually getting into a trance, it just might not be very deep, just being in a certain calm state of mind is technically a trance state, just a light one, i cant remember where but i saw a site that had a little bit more precise definitions on the different levels of trance, if i find it ill post it, but mainly calming your body and mind and focusing your thoughts so that there is none or only whatever your meditating on is there. you should keep doing the breathing until you feel your body become numb, thats a light/medium state of trance and is what a lot of ppl can get too. now the deeper trances those take a lot of time and practice to get into and you can be hurt by sudden sounds and such as HP maxine warns on the JOS site. even the medium ones can hurt you a lil with sudden sounds. but the falling thing is just one technique to push the trance state further. it works for some, and doesnt for others.

I had alot of problems with it too at first, But then one day I realised that I was thinking too much etc while I tried to go into a trance.
Try to still your mind a little bit, And to be honest, The way of JoS doesnt work for everyone, Its different for some people, Now I can get into a trance within a minute, And i'm not advanced or anything, I've only been meditating for about a month or 2.

And if you just hear sounds that arnt that loud it isnt a problem, or sounds that come regularly, like clock ticking, cars passing by etc. The problem is if you all of the sudden hear a way louder noise.
