"In normal yoga system 6 cakras are accepted excluding the sahasrarara. however the tantriks posit that there are 9 cakras in actuality, but three are kept secret. These three secret cakras are called golata, lalata and lalana and are located on the on the uvula at the back of the throat, above the ajna cakra and within the soft upper plate. the yogic practise associated with these is called khecari mudra. In this the linguae under the tongue is progressively severed and the tongue is gradually lengthened by stretching until it can extend to a point between the eyes. The tongue is then turned inwards and upwards to press on and enter duct within the cranial cavity above the soft plate. The pressure of tongue on the Ama Kala, the receptacle of soma rasa, causes it to flow downwards and the body is permeated with bliss. this exercise confers a divine body of free from aging, disease etc, according to the tantriks. however i feel that this process may be esotric because the plexuses in yoga are not physical parts of the body but form a part of the subtle body. According to some tantriks these three cakras cannot be described like other six and can only be experienced after the kundalini is awakened."

"When Sri Vidya Tirtha assumed Lambika Yoga Samadhi, his age had crossed 150! On the northern banks of river Tunga, he entered an underground chamber and attained Samadhi. Lambika yoga involves the practice of Khechari Mudra where the Yogi stretches his tongue upwards to block Randhras and manipulate Lalata, Lalana and Golata Chakras so as to obtain Kulamrita. The technicalities of this Kriya, which are extremely complex, should be learnt directly from a Guru. I shall refrain from discussing the details of this complex subject to avoid encouraging people from trying it themselves. In these days when a complex and sacred subject like Srividya can be taught as an year's course to raise funds for some temple complex, it is best to remain mum about traditional secrets and avoid commercialization of the same! B.K.S Iyengar[6] states that between the navel and the heart are the Manas (mind) and Surya (sun) chakras, and that at the top of the forehead is the Lalata chakra. The Tibetan tantric tradition has the Fire Wheel between the heart and the throat, the Wind Wheel on the forehead, and below the navel, instead of Swadhisthana and Muladhara, they have three chakras; the Secret Place Wheel is located four fingers below the navel, the Jewel Wheel is located on the sexual organ, and the very tip of the sexual organ is the very last chakra, where the central channel ends. Other traditions, such as the Bihar school of yoga, add Bindu chakra, which exists at the back of the head, and is where the divine nectar or Amrit is stored, place Lalata chakra in the roof of the mouth, and place Hrit chakra below the heart.
Many traditions posit a number of higher chakras in the head, which from lowest to highest are: golata, talu/talana/lalana, ajna, talata/lalata, manas, soma, sahasrara (and sri inside it)."

The final region beyond the chakras is on the crown of the head known as the Sahashrara. There are other chakras that some people also refer to namely Golata, Lalata and Lalana which are located behind the eyebrows above the palate."
