Is Atheism the first step in becoming a satanist?

I was brought up catholic (kind of), more out of tradition rather than any real conviction on my parents' part. When I left God and became an Atheist, my Christian friend (a massive hypocrite, like all Christians and Muslims) warned me that Atheism is the first step on the road to Satanism and was afraid I would never get to heaven and get face to face with God (what a loss, eh? I'd rather be reborn as a cockroach than bow to that tyrant). Now I know he was right...
Later on, I realized that materialism and atheism are dead ends and the spiritual side of life is very real. However, without the help Atheism provided, I would have probably never woken up to the lies of Christianity. I wonder if this works similarly for other people, in that they become Atheists first, before they turn to Satanism, and Atheism acts as a crutch to help them through the first few difficult years of transition to true Spirituality. To rephrase the question, do countries and people that have now become overwhelmingly godless (mostly European and Antipodean countries like Australia) going through a transitional phase that will ready the populace to embrace true Satanism (a bit like in Laveyan Satanism)? And was that Satan's plan all along?

Many people were Atheists before coming to Satanism. Maybe you could say that it's a 'first step' because the individual realizes the lies of xianity, islam, judaism etc. He/She is kinda deprogrammed of these lies. But, there are many others who came to Satanism and were never atheists.

I, personally, was never an atheist before turning to Satanism. Actually, in all honesty, it was a christian that opened my eyes. I was raised christian, and forced to attend REP (a Religious Education Program) every Saturday. One of the teachers I had in that program once said that "every religion has an equal right to hold what is true". That statement made me become much more open-minded, embracing new ideas and ways of thinking until I eventually found Satanism.

Yeah, was pretty much the same with me. In fact I have apparently been a Satanist for the last few years, just didn't know it. My Kundalini has been rising for many years now (it is currently banging at the gates of my throat Chakra) and when I got warnings from (well-meaning Atheist) friends that they heard Kundalini is of Satan and leads to possession by demons, I knew there was a giant lie somewhere waiting to be exposed. The rising of the Serpent has been the best thing that ever happened to me and I wasn't going to give that up due to some Christian scare tactics. If you search for Kundalini in Youtube or Google, the very first hit is some bullshit Christian documentary about how dangerous Kundalini is and how it will destroy your life. It seems they were right though, Kundalini Awakening IS of Satan. I am very happy I discovered this group and website.
