Happy Imbolc (2025)

Wishing all of our members here a very happy Imbolc!

Sun enters 15 degrees Aquarius in 2 and a half hours from the time of this post, and will last for nearly 24 hours, you can use and toggle it to find the exact times for your location. Moon is currently void, but will enter Taurus, and we will be doing the Blessing for Employment, Financial Safety and Protection Ritual, as stated on our current schedule.

Magickally, this festival is about imbuing the energetic element of fire into us to help us recover from the stagnation of Winter, to keep us going until the Sun's return on Spring Equinox. This was much more significant in the olden days before electricity, vitamin supplements, and supermarkets. This day was also associated with weather lore, which remains to this day as Groundhog Day in America and Canada.

Imbolc marks the beginning of early Spring, and is associated with fire, and is known as the Feast of Fire. Even though the Sun is in detriment, due to the alignment of the energies of Earth and the Sun this is a time to work with fire. And even though the Moon will be Void for the first half of it, you can still do the mediations listed below, because you are not beginning a new magickal working. The void Moon does not affect single meditations, only new schedules, workings, or projects that are begun.

You can meditate on a candle flame, or on the flames of a fireplace. You can also practice divination by fire. Invoking fire is beneficial at this time, you can invoke it into your Solar chakra and/or into your soul. For those who are more advanced, you can meditate on your Kundalini serpent.

Imbolc is also a great time to do purification of your soul and/or your home environment. Just a one-time purification, as the power of this date is extremely strong. Not all workings are meant to be done for cycles, some can be done on the relating power date once a year as a boost for the year. To purify your home, you can vibrate Sananda while visualizing bright white-gold light filing the entire space in every room, right into the corners and under the beds and other furniture, up to the ceiling.

Surviving in Celtic traditions, on this day people make a Brigid's cross (equal 4-armed cross woven of rushes), a symbol of the Pagan Goddess Brigid, to prevent against evil and misfortune. To "weave" is symbolic of magick, and it is likely the ancients recited mantras while physically making the item, imbuing it with magickal properties before placing it above the door to protect the home.

For those of you who are new and not yet dedicated, this is a great time to do so. It doesn't matter if the Moon is Void.
