Scientific theory and Paranormal references aside, the chances are they are bound by the weight of their crucifix. Most ghosts seem tormented, their Cycle broken. Lost in a void of non existence save for momentary glimpses of a dying Soul.

But I would like to extend this question - is the soul fading into non-existence, ceases to exist or is 'JUST' lost, so that some other being could try to help it return to the circle??

When a Life ends, believing it is bound for heaven and a welcoming embrace from a loving god, a kind smile from st. peter and a place to perch on the lap of christ beyond the pearly gates, when that Life Ends and these things are absent, where else is the Soul supposed to go, but to linger as nothing until nothing is all it becomes.
Can a Lost and Dying Soul be recovered, be rescued? Only another question is raised by the answer, would a Lost and Dying Soul turn to the very thing it feared in Life in order to be Saved? It is only by the WILL of the God's that a Soul could be given a doorway back into the Cycle of Life, but the Soul itself must want it, and choices in Life are only for the Living. How bitterly then the false gods bring the worshipful to Eradication.
The briefness and fleetingness of manifestation for a fading soul leaves little room for meaningful conversation, so little chance is given through random encounters. Spiritual communication is perhaps the more obvious route to the liberation of a Soul, but this is open to the greatest infection from the enemies of Our Faith.
A factor of great importance in this is the Souls Mortality, in that something that is fading cannot fade forever, it will inevitably end, cease to exist. We can get some idea of this time scale from the reports of Paranormal and Ghost activity. It is no coincidence that the Apparel and Attire of sightings does not predate a 1000 years at most, perhaps far less. There are no sightings of Roman Legionaires, and very few even, nowadays, of Cavaliers and Roundheads, as where perhaps more common in the Eighties, now it is Edwardian or Victorian as the "Norm". Perhaps a Fading Soul only exists for as long as a memory remains. Many sightings of Ghosts are linked to places of Historical Memory, or "Personal Space", Murder sights, Family homes and Battlefields, and more often than not Accident spots. While people remember the Life or the Tragedy a Link remains, perhaps from which a Souls Feeds its existence. Reduced to a Thoughtform of the Living until no thoughts to Form remain.
The God's, and Our Father can provide Great Miracles for those who want them, but for those who Fear Our Father and would flee HIS embrace, a step away from HIS Miracles reach.
In Dedication the Souls We Save are Our own. The Losses of those who are without are the product of Choices of their own. It would not be fair however to say Our Father does not care or is devoid of feeling for those Souls who Fade Without, for HE has Venom for HIS Enemies and HE teaches HIS Children Well, it is no fault of HIS should they listen to the Usurpers Words. HE teaches Us also to Break the Chains of the Words of the False Prophets in Order that not a Single Soul shall fade.
The Enemies promise is a Dead End, a Closed Door to the Cycle of Eternal Existence. We are the Key, through Our Fathers Gifts, to open that Door that whatever tomorrow is greeted by tomorrow. Immortality through realization must be acknowledged through Life. Those bound to the cross along with their crippled and nailed, emaciated and broken god king have no life left in which to reach this Realization. To rescue one who is gleefully impaled to the nazarene without ears to listen or a mind to learn is a task worth little to the Gods and far beyond the limits of Our own Personal Power, for it would serve none of us to bring back to the table one so attached to the nipple of christ.
