I've been lurking for a while, but I did my dedication more than 10 years ago when I was 16. I only recently started coming back here and noticed there isn't a lot on it just thought I'd share my experience as a way to give back to this place. This will just be an Overview not a detailed write up. Main part of this practice is a quiet and silent mind the more quiet the better you'll progress.
How I work with ectoplasm is that I get into a room that is devoid of any light source and watch the darkness until colors appear. When you get some colors going reach your hand out and try to pull it at first it might not respond but eventually you'll be able to pull the colors towards you and later on you'll be able to feel the texture of the colors either wet or has a cobweb like feeling.
The colors you'll see can take many different forms eventually you're entire room will be swirling with colors and at later stages there will be a kind of “depth” to the room and the colors will turn white and stick to the walls and furniture. They can also take the form of white threads of light that reach out from nowhere if you play with them while they're in that form various things will happen.
You can do a lot with Ectoolasm, such as allowing spirits to use it to manifest at first they'll look like a face but as you progress they can take on a full bodied appearance. You can also build a seperate body for yourself, remote view, enter phantom rooms, translocate (Your room changes and you're in a different location)
I just wanted to do an overview there's many more things you can do with Ectoplasm maybe one day I'll do a detailed write up if someone doesn't do it before me
