In my opinion, intelligence does not equal increased "risk" in and of itself, in the sense of having a higher "risk" to make mistakes.FancyMancy said:
Intelligence and knowledge are what allow us to prevent mistakes from being made.
There are two things that play into the risk factor here, those being responsibilities and arrogance. These two things can increase as a result of high intelligence. An intelligent person will often end up taking positions of higher influence, which bring with themselves more responsibilities. More responsibilities mean that there are more things that the person has to pay attention to and manage, and consequently there will be more things they can "fuck up".
As for arrogance, very commonly an intelligent person will become cocky and arrogant, leading to close-mindedness and to the ignoring of seemingly "unimportant" details. This is not due to intelligence, but due to a lack of grounding that leads to over-estimating one's self and one's abilities. This, of course, results in a higher tendency to make mistakes.
