Hope it's OK to post about this here.
I posted about this project about a year ago. Back then I was doing a sidescrolling arcade-inspired action game, but has since then moved on from that into FPS.

Now it's going to be a retro-inspired action first person shooter. The name of this game is Cobra Assault, starring ficticious characters with names inspired by some forum members here.
The story is basically that an evil corporation named "Helix Dynamics" has created a zombie-virus, which has led to a world wide zombie outbreak disaster.

The characters Cobra, Lydia, Alex, Apollo and Scarlet have taken on the mission to save earth from this. Behind "Helix Dynamics" are ultimately reptilians, governed by grays - which will show up later on in the game.
I do not want to reveal too much though, and will let the video speak for itself. Hope you enjoy.

I remember this!

It's interesting. If you want feedback for improvement, lmk there's a few things. Publishing an indie game can be very expensive. Good luck.

I'm not into games at all and don't know much about how it's supposed to be but it seems like you've done a good job. It has a wolfenstein vibe which is pretty cool.

Hope you've cleared this with whoever your characters might be based on.

Btw, why is it the other way around and the reptilians are governed by the grays? Just curious. Artistic freedom?

Although the "standard version" places the reptilians on the throne, there are actually niches within ufology that argue the opposite. Who knows for sure? And it's just a game after all.

There's people who will tell you theyre the son of Satan and that smoking crack is good for you too. You're right though on this, the TOZ has retconned the hell out of their mythos and these things are left very unclear, beyond the "thoughtform" simplification used these days.

If this is a hobby project, do whatever the hell you want with it! Have fun, learn while you make it and if you make a buck off it, even better. There's certain copyright issues, I mean you're basing characters off of people's image and you have obviously inspiration from Doom. The voice acting you used is intuitively concerning, as well as the music. These things are gonna have to be worked out if they actually publish this game. BTW, if you don't end up publishing, I wouldn't personally consider that to be a failure, I do think the experience itself matters most, and in that sense you can leave this as a creative project.

Other than what I said, there's things you can do to make the game make more sense conceptually and more unique. What I would personally do is make the player character not Cobra, that way you can introduce a level up system and introduce siddhis inspired skill trees. Keep the graphics as they are, make the gameplay the focus. You have a lot of things being introduced right away to the player, I would be keeping the introduction simpler and revealing information more gradually. The player character could be a promising cadet drafted to the front lines as a first responder, while Cobra acts as a sort of executive commander role. As far as lore, you could say humanity just recently unified after a very long and bloody civil war, and this alien invasion came after it as a response. You could mention that aliens pretended to be human and infiltrated humanity etc.

I could write this sort of thing all day.

Quite cool. I like the Wolfenstein vibes, if that was intentional.

I'd play it when it comes out.

The slow moderation on this subforum is such a drag. Hopefully my posts are approved by tomorrow so we can further discuss this neat project concept.

This looks right up my alley, look forward to more updates on it and when it is released i will gladly play it.

Perhaps intro will be changed. I'm not basing the characters on anyones image. They are completely made up.

Reminds me of half-life. Looks like a promising project.
It would be great if the game awarded you for exploring and such. Like there could be character and equipment upgrades as well.
I like games that are interactive and somewhat flexible.
