) then maybe try some affirmations? I have trouble with void meditation sometimes and when I get distracted I just think things like "You don't have to remember/think of this" or "Your mind is cleared of all internal and external distractions." Another thing to remember is that "You control your thoughts, your thoughts do NOT control you." That also seems to help/bring relief. If you haven't dedicated, here is the link:
How to Dedicate You Soul to Satan Anyway, as for embarrassing memories/etc always remember that to move forward you must not let past hindrances/etc keep you down. If you don't believe in yourself, you cannot progress. Always believe in yourself! These things are in your past--what matters is acting now.Also, I used to always have trouble with falling asleep. This improves with time/as you meditate you will be able to focus better. It sounds like you have a hard time focusing, but try not to be so down on yourself. Just make sure you put some time in effort into meditation--that is all you can do, and it will help with some patience and hard work

When you can, maybe try sitting instead of laying down? I don't know if you lay down or not, but I used to and it was way harder not to fall asleep. Some things you might need to lay down for, like after hatha or kundalini yoga. But you can sit up for a lot of the meditations and this is very helpful in improving focus/not falling asleep. Get comfortable, but not TOO comfortable
