well they have several purposes
of course is a form of relaxation really useful before and after hata (physical) yoga, but also a pratice itself... breathing can be a powerful channel for energies of various kind in addition to the air itself (that is the basic form of energy we all are able to deal with, even those who don't recognize our kind of pratice for example)
personally I do it before and after both yoga and meditation sessions and yes, doing everyday would be a great thing... then you'll find on your own how much benefits they'll bring to your entire being
for what concerns the time to approach the next steps I can only suggest you to use common sense, never trying to push you too much over your limits! I mean, pushing a little a day to improve your skill is as a good and necessary thing... but always using common sense for your own physical and psychical safety!
in the end, I think almost we all do the same mistake in the beginning, willing impatiently to communicate directly with Father and the other Gods... but I ensure that if you are able to read the signs and gifts they daily give to us, all this understandable craving to a straight relationship with them will soon disappear, leaving you able to face trainings with all the calm you need to do it... so develop your astral senses and train your mind and spirit, all will come when it's time to, you'll see...

I have a question that's been bugging me, I just recently started doing the meditations ffor beginners posted on JOS and I don't know what the purpose of the "breathing excercises for satanists" is, I understand how to do the "basic yoga breathing technique" and I can do it for 10 seconds between each sections of my lungs inhaling and exhaling and I just started. , but what I don't know is the purpose of it, and how often should I do them, the other thing i don't know is what are all the breathing excercises for? are they a form of relaxation? am I supposed to feel calm or relaxed? should I do them everyday? how do I know when I'm ready to move to the next phase? when will I be able to talk to father Satan. please help me, all answers are truly appreciated.
