He's not evil or anything dark like that for that matter. Satan is a benevolent god which can be seen simply by the fact that he saved the human race from extinction.

Darkness and light are two sides of the same coin, neither being superior to the other. Have you ever seen a yin-yang? Light cannot exist withought darkness, and darkness cannot exist without light. When Satan is referred to as "Dark", it's less about "evilness" and more that he does not fear to balance his use of light with use of darkness. What I mean is, destruction is as important to life as creation. You cannot feel guilt about doing what is necessary.
