I have a very hard time understanding astrology. Maybe I just don't read into it enough? I am looking forward to reading the books you are writing.

Thank you Moonshadow. One cannot do any kind of reading by 'copy & paste.' The entire chart is as individual as one's own fingerprints. It has to be blended. For example, one cannot take say 'Sun in Aries' in the twelfth house, squaring Saturn in Capricorn in the tenth house with say, Aries rising and Mars in Cancer in the fourth house, along with co-rulers in the first house- the interpretations for the Sun in Aries will be watered down considerably. 12th house planets are usually subdued, unless they are very close to the ascendant, and operate a bit differently than for example, a planet in an angular house. Mars in its sign of fall in Cancer in its house of fall [the 4th] will not be as outgoing, especially if it is retrograde and/or has hard aspects to Saturn [along with the above] which inhibits the natural aggressive nature of this planet. This in turn would affect the nature of its ruling the chart. Then, hard aspects to Satrun [Mars] are not all
the same- again, it depends on the house placement, the sign Mars is in and other factors. Mars on a late degree in Aries squaring [hard aspect] Saturn in an early degree in detriment in Leo [weakened], will still have the Aries aggression, especially if it is in an angular house, but the Saturn will influence it at some level, usually in this instance some personal inhibitions which are masked by aggressive behavior, like the classic bully.
Co-rulers if there are any also come into play in affecting the personality. In addition, there is much in the chart that cannot be explained and interpreted by standard texts, such as for planets in houses and their aspects. The semi-sextile is often an aspect of fate. The tighter the aspect the more it is often pointing to a fated event in the life. Many semi-sextiles and inconjuncts that tie in together and are tight indicate a major life changing event which is on the soul before birth, from a past life.
As for Vedic astrology, I have found many of their specific interpretations to be off. As for the foundation, it is very helpful and accurate when blended with western astrology. I also have found flaws with the sidereal zodiac. I use the tropical and it has always worked fine. In addition, each planet rules one or more houses. The placement of the planet, aspects to the planet, if it is part of a configuration such as a grand trine or other apsect, its house- whether it is exalted in house, sign and such [making it a stronger influence], if it is on an angle [this also gives it more power], the degree it is on, if it is intercepted- everything has to be considered and factored in with giving a correct interpretation. The affairs of the house will be affected accordingly throughout the life.
I am still working on writing books on astrology, but this is the most complex and detailed of all of the divination and occult sciences. It also reveals the most and is the most accurate. In writing books, there will be several volumes.
I read all volumes of The Only Way To Learn Astrology by March & McEvers, and found these to be more ABOUT astrology, rather than giving extensive and correct interpretations. Any 'sun sign' books should be avoided as they are a total waste of time.
Some other good books on astrology include:
Dynamics of aspect analysis by Bil Tierney [this books is educational regarding the aspect configurations such as the yod, the grand trine, etc.]
Secrets from a Star Gazer's Notebook by Debbie Kempton-Smith
The Astrologer's Handbook by Frances Sakoian & Louis Acker
Aspects and Personality by Karen Hamaker-Zondag - for beginners
The House Connection by Karen Hamaker-Zondag
One important point here- many books read that trines and sextiles are all wonderful and the hard aspects such as oppositions and squares are unfortunate. This is definitely not the case. I have known individuals who had Sun conjunct, or trine Jupiter and who were very over-confident, arrogant and condescending. If a person has Sun/Jupiter aspects, and say a hard saturn/sun aspect, this will keep them in check and make them more amiable and pleasant to be around.
Another case I came across was a man with Sagittarius rising, [ruled by Jupiter]. His Jupiter was conjunct Venus. Now, nearly all astrolgy books will rave on just how benefic and fortuneate, and totally wonderful this aspect is. His aspect was even tight and on an angle, giving it even more power. According to astrology books out there, he would have had life on easy street, but the contrary was true. Again, as i mentioned above- the houses, the planets and what houses they rule and influence come into play here. Taurus was on the cusp of his sixth house of health. Venus ruled this house as Venus rules Taurus. Any time the chart ruler or co-rulers are in aspect [even a trine or sextile] to the ruler of the 6th [health house], the person will experience health problems in their life. This man, when he was a toddler, drank strong cleaning solution, which scarred his throat severely and he had to suffer through life with this condition. Taurus rules the
throat. This is what I mean when I stated that one cannot just take an interpretation out of a book or 'copy & paste' from a website. ALL interpretations must be adapted.
I have done a lot of my own research over the years with the books below, as these contain charts of notable people. Life events and death can be researched through these:
Profiles of Women - A Collection of Astrological Biographies by Lois M. Rodden
The American Book of Charts by Lois Rodden
Astro Data III by Lois Rodden
Astro-data V: Profiles in crime by Lois M Rodden
Zodiac of Death by Don Lasseter and Dana Holliday
This book is onely good for the astro chart information on crinimals. The authors, as with all too many don't know jack shit about real astrology. I have used this book in my own research- many charts have the predominant Neptune of insanity and abberation, violent fixed stars at prominant points and other data that all tie in. The authors don't know of any of this.
Also, I am doing full readings again for a limited time:

Maxine read my chart too and did an excellent job, so it infuriated me when I read online where some a**hole said she was a fraud, that she cut and pasted from other astrology websites, WRONG! Anyway, she once gave me a long list of good astrology books, and some I just found myself that were good, these included:
The Astrologer's Handbook by Frances Sakoian and Louis S. Acker
Instant Horoscope Reader by Julia Lupton Skalka
Aspects In Astrology by Sue Tompkins
Planets In Signs by Skye Alexander
The Only Way To Learn Astrology by March & McEvers
There are more, but these are the only ones I have kept and not sold back to a bookstore. It is very hard to find good astrology books, I basically have read everything I could and was able to do some birth chart readings for friends and relatives, but as far as progressing further, I've kind of come to a standstill due to the knowledge just not being out there. There are schools of astrology, I wish I had the money to go to one, but alas.
Good luck!

I have recently gotten my birth chart done by HP Maxine but just the basic info not a full reading. I did this so that i could learn astrology and read my own chart for i find this will be more rewarding. However i know there is going to be bogus books out there that i should not waste my time on, so i am looking for some suggestions from the groups. Who are the best authors when it comes to astrology?
