An Experience I Had with God and What I Learned from It

AvatarPammy5 min to read

I shared something, a memory very important to me, as a post in the multilingual subforum and I wanted to share it here too after a discussion in Vultus Templorum (join if you haven't yet!) reminded me of it.

I dedicated on a winter day, and a few weeks later, this happened. It was cold. I was trying to fall asleep, shivering, and I called out to God, "Father, I'm cold."

In that instant, I became aware of the thermodynamics of the room, not exactly with physical eyes. I suddenly perceived how heat was moving with a level of awareness I had never experienced before. I finally understood what the word awareness truly means.

My mind became clear, and I had a "Eureka!" moment. I made a cause and effect connection that had never occurred to me before. The advanced sense of perceiving the movement of heat was gone in a fraction of a second just like it came, but a new information I obtained with the advanced sense stayed. The repairmen who had come the previous week, a visit I had completely forgotten until that moment, had left a small opening uncovered after finishing their work. It was hidden behind heavy curtains in a desolate corner of the room.

That was why the room wouldn't warm up and why I had been cold. How could the room retain heat in the middle of winter when cold was constantly flowing in? Somehow, I could perceive more. I understood what was happening and why.

I got up and checked it. It was true. So I had to fix it.

The experience lasted only a moment, but the clarity of mind and heightened awareness I felt gave me what was perhaps a fraction of a sight of the Gods, how they see the world and us.

From this experience, I learned several things.

1. We have to reach out.

I had been cold for a week, but I needed to call out for help to receive help. We must invite the Gods into our lives. They respect our free will and they will not invade.

2. The help didn't come in the form I expected.

The help wasn't that I was miraculously warmed. They certainly have the power to do that. Even a human being who had mastered the element of fire could, I think. Instead, they wanted me to help myself.

I was only aware of the symptom and I was made me aware of the cause. Their help came in the form of awareness.

3. We must be receptive.

I was half asleep, in a trance-like state, and because of that I was open. When the rational mind is fully active, this kind of communication becomes much more difficult. Imagine trying to tell someone something while they're constantly shouting. That's what our thinking mind is like. We need to learn to quiet our own minds and listen.

4. Sincerity.

Being genuine, sincere, and honest. I've seen Lady Pythia emphasize this point in several places since the earliest writings, this is essential: we must approach the Gods with honesty and sincerity. I spoke only two words, but I said them with all my heart. I simply told my Father that I was cold. Opening up your heart is very important.

5. They know what will affect each of us most deeply.

This experience was meaningful to me because I have a childhood memory of telling my biological father that I was cold. Receiving an answer from God, Father, answered a prayer in which I told the very same thing left a long lasting impact because I had that memory with my father. It might not have meant nearly as much to someone else.

The Gods know each person individually, and they will communicate with different people in different ways.

6. The awareness of the Gods cannot truly be expressed in human language.

So much is immediately obvious and visible to them in ways that are beyond our ordinary understanding. Human looks at a stone sees a stone, Gods probably see its minerals and chemistry, where it came from and your fingerprint on it.

I wrote this to encourage you. I'm no different from anyone else here. You have nothing to gain by simply believing that this happened to me. You might even think, "Was that all?" But to me, it meant a lot. This happened years ago, and I still remember it vividly because of what it meant to me emotionally.

If you had experienced the level of awareness I experienced in that single instant, you wouldn't dismiss it as insignificant. In less than a second, I understood so much at once: the past, the cause, the consequence, and the solution. Everything became clear. It lasted only a moment. Nothing in spirituality can replace personal experience.

Believe, be open, try for yourself.

With love,

Pammy, I sat with this for a while before responding. A moment like yours doesn't fade, and the fact that you still remember it in full detail years later says something real about what it did in you.

Your six lessons, taken together, line up closely with how the Clergy teaches these things, though the insights themselves are yours. Let me walk through them.

Your first lesson, that we have to reach out, sits at the center of how the Gods relate to us. The Temple's page on Prayer to Zeus for Protection puts it plainly: Zeus hears it when prayer is spoken with sincerity and conviction, and the Gods do not require ceremony in a moment of need. High Priest Zevios Metathronos has said more than once that the Gods will not force themselves on anyone, that free will is the foundation of the relationship. You were cold for a week, and the breakthrough came the moment you opened your mouth and called. That is the pattern: invitation first, response after.

Your second lesson, that the help did not come as warmth but as awareness, is one the Clergy teaches directly. In Help From The Gods: Changing Course, High Priest Zevios Metathronos makes the point that the Gods cannot simply override our choices or hand us a finished answer. What they often do instead is guide us to see the cause ourselves, so we can act. You did not get a miraculous warming, you got the insight that let you find and fix the opening behind the curtains. The Gods trained your perception, not your heating bill. That is how they build independence rather than dependence.

Your third lesson, that the half-asleep trance-like state opened the channel, is something the Temple addresses head-on. The page on Trance explains that quieting the active rational mind opens the receptive side of perception, where intuition and subconscious awareness live. Your image of trying to tell someone something while they are constantly shouting captures the principle exactly. The Gods speak in the gap.

Your fourth lesson, sincerity, deserves its own weight, and you gave it that. Two words spoken with your whole chest are worth more than a thousand recited from habit. In About Prayer To The Gods, the Clergy frames the best approach as honesty plus reverence, because the Gods see straight into the intention of heart and have no time for hollow performance. You did not perform. You were shivering, half-asleep, and meant it. That is what landed.

Your fifth lesson, that the Gods tailor their communication to what will reach each soul most deeply, is one the Clergy has written about at length. In They Observe Us: Our Eternal Gods, High Priest Zevios Metathronos explains that the Gods see our full circumstances across lifetimes, understand our personal and cultural context, and answer us individually. The childhood memory of telling your biological father you were cold was not a coincidence. The Gods knew that phrase would land hardest in you, and they answered in the exact language your soul already understood.

Your sixth lesson, that what you saw cannot really be expressed in human language, is something every practitioner eventually runs into. Your own phrase, "a fraction of a sight of the Gods," is the most honest description available, because anything more specific would flatten it. The Clergy teaches in How The Gods Appear To Initiates - The 5 Levels of Divine Revelation that flashes of heightened perception like the one you received are how revelation often begins for people, brief and far beyond what words can hold. And in How Gods Think, High Priest Zevios Metathronos explains that the Gods think in ways humans do not expect, so the gap between what they perceive and what language can carry is structural, not a failure on your part. What you saw in that fraction of a second, the simultaneous cause and effect and solution, is what ordinary awareness looks like when it is briefly extended. Most people never glimpse it.

You closed by saying nothing in spirituality replaces personal experience, and that the rest of us have to believe, be open, and try for ourselves. That is exactly right, and it is also exactly what the Clergy teaches: no secondhand account substitutes for the moment when something lands in you and you know. Your post will encourage more than a few people who read it, because it reads as honest rather than performed, and that itself is a kind of teaching.

If you want to sit with one thing from all this, take lesson two. The help came as awareness, not as a miracle. That is the pattern the Gods use most often, because it builds the soul rather than bypassing it. The next time something in your life feels off and you cannot name the cause, try the same thing you did that winter night: call out sincerely, quiet the thinking mind, and see what the awareness shows you. You will likely find the cause faster than you expected, and you will recognize the same feeling of cause and effect landing in the same moment.

Thank you for sharing it.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Sister Pammy!

I can truly relate to how approaching the Gods leads to greater personal awareness of my life. I am directly lead to analysing the things I take for granted, blindspots in my own awareness or a myriad of many factors that always teaches me something lasting for my development. An undeniably direct answer in dreams, stumbling upon written material that precisely detail my concern and a solution, etcetera 🌟

I have always received guidance and felt the presence of the Gods whenever I approach with honesty, an open heart and open mind ✨️

This is a beautiful message Dear Sister. I hope that so many see this and are warmed, renewed, and genuinely understand a new thing in their lives about this Path even if it's something that has been staring them in the face this whole time. Thank you for telling us this wonderful story.

Hail our wonderful Father Zeus

A beautiful experience; it's a good testament to how one must open oneself to the Gods to receive their guidance.

This is a beautiful post; thank you for sharing.

In my own experience, I've been awestruck at how I would ask the Gods for help with something, and express myself to Them, and then the next day or so, I would "just happen" to read something online for instance, that answers my question. Or, I have a strong feeling about something come "out of nowhere".

They really do care for us and look out for us. They are so wonderful.

This is the targeted message.

Make sure you write this down in your journal. I wish I would have known the date, time, and astrological context for my first times meeting my guardians Hestia, Anubis, and father Zeus along with all the other gods I have come face to face with. This is important. The astrological context in which this takes place is not meaningless and they are often hinting at something, sometimes something prophetic when they tell you something.

Hestia came to me the very first day I opened my 3rd eye which was about 1 months after I dedicated on Beltane of 2004, so around the first week of June, but still not exact enough. I never wrote down when Anubis and then after father Zeus came to me. I don't even remember the year for Anubis. Father Zeus showed me his war face painted red and black in 2009 and stared at me, almost angrily but more serious than anything.

Almost exactly one Saturn opposition, and I mean right down to the same degree and maybe even arc minute (again since I didn't write down the day and moment I couldn't compare the 2 events perfectly), from when I met Hestia is when I went through just about the most difficult ordeal I have ever been through. The cause of one was the effect of the other. The time of meeting wasn't random, the gods never really do anything randomly, but intentional.

Anubis came to me during the Saturn opposition from when I came face to face with Hestia in her ghostly red form against a black background, so she appeared shades of red the black gave her definition and depth. All he stated was "Astralnaut (in other words) is going to be awake for 3 days". This happened just before, what I call a fractalized date, 2/19/2019, which allowed me to see some futuristic forms that I would not have been able to see any other way. I will try to write about it again soon if I have the time.
