Why does only The Vatican claim that they can do Exorcisms?

This is something that troubles me a lot, I know that some of the entities can be demons (who are friendly) or Angels (who are not), why does The Vatican seem to claim that they are the Number One authority on this matter. Watching the film The Conjuring, I saw this and those people had to get Vatican approval first before they could of done something.
