Why did music begin to get dumbed down from the start of 2006 and up?

I grew up on alternative rock. It literally is the reason I found Satanism to begin with and rebelled against xtianity. Note I was listening to mainstream music at the time and it did have the spirit you describe. I wondered for awhile what happened. There may still be a few good songs out there in this genre but I noticed too its lost its edge. Its much more conforming and materialist these days.

Anyone actually know any good alternative rock or rap that is deeper and actually has a somewhat positive message or at least a message against xtianity or the culture today. Idk it's hard to find. I think part of the coming generation is screwed if people dont take back the music.

Bands like Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, The Fray and 3 Doors Down were some of the most powerful bands in history and you could truly feel their good intentions.

This song for example is very powerful and has a good meaning behind it, but now you can't find that anymore. Even in rap music nowadays, rappers that are "emotional" or make sad songs that somewhat help people go through, end up getting killed. Despite not being a huge fan of rap though, I always respected the message it had, but nowadays it's just outright bad.

It's honestly systematic conditioning by decade or generation . Just like every art form they make it more and more mind numbing little by little to program our youth into being worse and worse mentally. Just think todays music would have been laughed at 30 years ago. Same thing with 'modern (F)art' and how much they can get away with in film nowadays.

Even today's teens increasingly complain of the crap it is on the radio every day.

You know when you go to supermarkets or some other shops and they always have this horrible music ? Well I have been suffering from this kind of audio harassment all my life (because I always hated mainstream music). It's not like after random date it got worse, for me it was always audio torture :/
I suppose that helps them make sales somehow because for me I would either get out of the shop if I can afford it or rush and just buy the bare minimum I needed if I had to shop there..
Fortunately it has never been easier to freely listen to good stuff from on's own home.

Yeah, it's truly sickening I've actually been wearing sunglasses and noise canceling ear buds for months now, I just put them on when I go into public and put on whatever I like. And if someone wants to talk, I pull a ear bud out just enough to hear them.

I think the Final RTR has helped greatly in freeing me though, because I've had MUCH better self control since starting it on a regular schedule.

Also with music they play everywhere, a good bit of it has subliminal messages. You can tell who listens to it most, because they walk around the shops, and real life like zombies. Aimlessly wandering, and with nearly dead eyes.

Now above I talked about rap. If you want some good new rock music go to a band on a music app (I have done this quite a lot and found some good stuff) and click radio on a song you like or artist. You will find a few good things. Now surprisingly a few of the more recent songs on the radio sound more like what I grew up with.

You may have given up on it awhile ago but keep looking even some of the bands you used to like have changed somewhat but listen they still may have meaning. Just look around maybe somehow that kind of thing and better will come back I kind of see that trend think the final rtr and do it every day too have hope.

This peep guy just makes depressing songs about how he feels he is a loser with no purpose to life so he does drugs and works to ruin his own life in a self fulling prophecy of failure.

Why people listen to that is probably because they feel the same way about themselves. This kind of music is toxic to a person's psyche. Its about feeding a cycle of depression.

Ok I can see how that is toxic but what else is there to even listen to that's new that has some depth or emotion I only found them trying to look up stuff about controversial or anti religious music trying to find new stuff a couple of months ago.

I want something that has a good message makes people think and is deep or intelligent. I may have listened to some of the dumb songs sometimes mainly when others were around and only because of that but never liked them very much compared with emotional or deep songs when I play music on my own honestly i always listen to deep stuff or stuff that has a rebel message/vibe or both and intellectual music music that you have to really think about stuff like that is the kind of vibe in music i sought out and end up still liking and looking for. I honestly thought anything emotional was an improvement over a lot of the crap that is so void and empty. Honestly I miss the type of stuff that came out when Uranus was in Pisces and Neptune was in Aquarius. It's hard to find that vibe anymore and I've looked all over. Some new things sound a little like that but it's not as good. I really want music with depth and meaning and makes people think.

I haven't found any recent albums I like the whole album of songs or new artists etc

Can anyone really give me suggestions on the type of music I like

Rap and hard/alternative rock or a mixture of the two.

Research has shown all music sucked till Billy Idol and all music sucked after Billy Idol because it was not Billy Idol which the research shows basically all music that is not Billy Idol is not that good. This is some NSA level of research here as well.

Music has been sucking for awhile I notice in the 80's New Wave kind of gave a breath of life from the standard rock, pop style of music. Then it was morphed into some Techno then into Hip Hop then into whatever..... Rock music was also morphed into Korn the Nuuu metal stuff which is Hip Hop mixed with rock to make it more appealing to the music industries market place demographic's at the time. This started with Arrow Smith joining up with Public Enemy for this reason back in the eighties. And it came back around.

Every rock band and hard rock band all sound the same like with Punk rock for the same reason they are all copying each other and you can only do so much with the same power cords, basic drum beat . Its very limited. But its very popular because its a correct basic form of music.

That is why New Wave was so much better it created a new sound and different style of music. Probably the best new music around is the New Wave return style music.


However for over all really good music you have to go back all the way to medieval, renaissance style music. Classical music is pleasant but I don't care for it outside of Wagner. That is why classical music does not really sell despite being in music stores and such. But people will line up around the block for Folk Music.

Maybe it is. Long before I knew about Satanism I wanted to get away from xtianity and it's people. That was my one wish since I was basically 6 and yes at that time I felt the energy and even called the whole this shit. My parents and family is super hardcore xtian. I guess I want in some way to hurt them like they hurt me inside i have tried cursing them a lot but realize I must meditate and grow more powerful. At the very least I hope they somehow see the lower astral hell like place. and their beliefs led to me rebelling in ways that harmed me long before I came here. What they taught basically messed me up so I related to the emo type music. I am free from it a lot more now doing workings which I still am doing daily and feel much better but still like the music.
Oh well I'll curse them or leave them someday when I can totally break free and make them hurt even though they are super nice to me I dont care they stole half my life and my only ever wish was to get away from them and xtianity. I at the time would have gladly traded places even with someone in poverty or something anything if I could get away from xtianity and I believe I may have even tried to sell my soul in this way but I cant remember

Then again I am nice to most people i meet in offline life and try to help people a lot I think it's the water signs in my chart sun pluto conjunct 8th house scorpio cancer moon pisces in first house etc. Most everyone I met after them was way more accepting of my personality and ideas than my xtian family and they were the only ones I knew who took it to such extremes. I want nothing to do with it anymore at all. I am doing several workings to break free.

If anyone is even the least bit psychic they know my personality somewhat and do try to understand me in my experience.

So most of the world is beautiful at least somewhat in my opinion. Also no one i ever met other than them has had as much negative energy. Even people that did me wrong at least understood me to an extent more than them.

I didnt even know that about music but for me more I used music as a reflection of how I feel and felt. Rather than changing cause of the music well maybe the music caused all this growing up but it did feel good to get out I cant tell many how I feel other than ranting about it over and over at my parents in indirect ways not even saying what I want but that's the kind of feelings I had growing up that is why I was so touchy before when you knew me and on that group I ran (you were on it too earth project or whatever cant even remember the name) anyways recently I've done meditations to free myself of xtianity more and my parents influence. Maybe Mageson you have some advice for me.

I agree Mageson, good observation and I also always noticed you have a good taste in music. That makes me think I recently found a band called Ministry which is a band that sucks now but they have some old synth-pop songs that are still really good. There's always good music out underground, and I think part of the reason why this is happening is that people just want to go with the flow and fit in so in general people are reluctant to comment on the declining quality of the arts.

Ever listen to a band called Blackmore's Night? Richie Blackmore from Deep Purple and his wife Candace Night, they make "renaissance rock" music, a mix of rock, medieval, folk. Probably not what you meant here but thought I would link it anyway. This song might not be the best representation but it's one of their most popular. They play at a lot of renaissance fairs.

I have Ministry's first album which was good it was "Dark Wave" style, but yes later on they turned into this NIN, Rob Zombie style band that I don't care for. I found a lot of Gothic style music has keep its base in that era.

Yes they are a decent band I remember their music was used in the movie they made about the Volsung Saga. Which could have been done a lot better.

"Dark wave", yeah. Not too dark though, I've actually only heard their first album all the way through and it's like synth-pop with the edge of some 80s power ballads. I like Skinny Puppy now too even though I initially dismissed them as some sort of grunge/emo thing. I also like the band Tame Impala, that's a good example of a modern band that's not too bad. "The Less I Know The Better" got really popular out of the blue on social media and I was happy to actually enjoy something so popular for once in a while.

That was strange it seems like they are fighting to be the new Rage Against The Machine. Not a surprise that a group that does seem punk influenced back to the day would come out as Marxist. Bad Religion was probably one of the biggest promoters of Marxist ideology I remember in the Punk world.
