-Lazy parents who neglect their children and let their kids spend too much time playing video games and on computer or watching tv
I think this is one of the biggest problems, as it supports a lot of the other negatives. The parents have basically set their kids up with a socially acceptable, yet highly addictive habit.
I cringe at toddlers who have been given an iPad to play on, knowing that their brain is being molded into the shape of an addict. I can relate to this myself, as my parents spoiled me out of misguided attempts to "love". Later in life, I had to basically teach myself to be an adult, although that cannot give me back the wasted childhood spent gaming.
A lot of the other poor behaviors one grows up with can be countered by exposure to reality itself, but our exposure to this is limited if we are stuck in a video game world, made worse by the injection of obvious propaganda.
On a side note, our exposure to movies, advertisements, and other media which attempts to present a false reality is actually very dangerous for that reason. People see how their favorite actor behaved, then they start to believe that those actions created a certain result, regardless of the truth.
Not that you don't already understand this, but I have to repeat it because it makes me rage. It's one of the things which often ruins the appeal of modern entertainment for me, because I feel like it is an assault on my mind.
