Do you guys think his paintings are based on some real events in the past, or at least he knew what really happened?
At the painting below, you can see creatures that resamble the jews or those carvings of akhenaten from Egypt, notice the elongated heads.

The paintings are publicly deemed as mix of fantasy, science fiction and nordic folklore, but they seem to be too specific in what they depict to me.
