The True History of the United States

So I'm obviously an American citizen, and I've just become insatiably curious about the history of my country. Not what you learn from the hogwash, tailored to suit those in power textbooks, but the raw truth of what has happened here and what built this country and whats going on. Where can I find this information? I'm sure its scattered due to different topics, but is there anything outstanding to start with? I'm so tired of being in the dark and feeling like I'm being lied to about everything.
