The Significance of the Trident and the number 3

AvatarKouros Aionios5 min to read

The number 3 has three prongs like a Trident. Zeus, in his form of Poseidon or Shiva, wields the Trident

3-----

This is a very holy number of Zeus and is symbolic of many different things:

The Three Gunas (Modes of Existence) and the Tripartite Nature of Zeus

The three gunas are the different modes of existence and the God Zeus that encompasses reality. There are Rajas, Sattva, and Tamas.

Rajas is the mode of passion, activity, ego, movement, driven-ness, dynamism, and creation.

Sattva is the mode of purity, goodness, light, balance, harmony, virtue, peacefulness, positivity, and maintenance.

Tamas is the mode of ignorance, impurity, inertia, anxiety, chaos, darkness, inactivity, apathy, violence, viciousness, and destruction.

All of these forces are necessary for existence on the Microcosmic and Macrocosmic levels. In the universe and in our individual lives
Every single one of us is made up of these energies in varying degrees; some are more Rajasic, Sattvic, or Tamasic than others.

The Great God Zeus is the Perfect Cosmic Being; these three Gunas or modes of existence are perfectly balanced within him and are reflected in his tripartite nature:

Brahma is Rajas, Vishnu is Sattva, Shiva is Tamas,

Brahma is the Creator, Vishnu the Sustainer, Shiva the Destroyer

Zeus is the Creator, Zinas is the Sustainer, Dias is the Destroyer or Divider

As beings made in the likeness of the Great God Zeus, we are supposed to balance the energies that create, maintain, and destroy the various forces in our lives, so we are using them for advancement and not falling victim to these energies. This is one of the lessons to learn from this Tripartite nature: we must learn how to balance these three qualities within ourselves to obtain true enlightenment.

The Three Realms of Existence:

There are three main realms of existence in the Vedic Cosmology:

Bhu Loka, Bhuvar Loka, Svarga Loka

Earth, Outer Space, and The Heavens

The Three Main Bodies:

The Physical Body, Subtle Body, and Causal Body,

Which inhabit the Material, Astral, and Causal Realms

The three main bodies of existence are all interconnected and inseparable from each other. We must learn how to integrate all of them for proper advancement. None of these should be neglected as they are all crucial for advancement. A healthy body through exercise, healthy emotions through self-care, and a healthy mind through meditation are all necessary for true spiritual growth.

The Threefold Mantra of AUM ॐ and the Three modes of Consciousness

On this symbol itself, you can see the three-pronged tips of the Trident and the number 3, representing the three states of consciousness by the letters
AAA=Waking, UUU=Dreaming, MMM=Deep Sleep

This Mantra is also connected with the Tripartite Nature of Zeus as AAA=Brahma(Waking), UUU=Vishnu(Dreaming), MMM=Shiva(Deep Sleep)

This is why Vishnu is depicted in a sleeping state, dreaming the universe and sustaining its existence

The Three Stages of the Magnum Opus

On the journey to immortality and the Godhead, there are three main stages to the Magnum Opus: Nigredo, Albedo, and Rubedo

As you can see, these colors are related to the three gunas mentioned before, and the three gunas play a crucial role in these stages of the Magnum Opus as well.

The Three Knots/Watchtowers (Granthis)

Three knots block the pathway of the ascent of the Kundalini serpent:

They are called the Brahma Granthi, Vishnu Granthi, and Rudra/Shiva Granthi

The Brahma Granthi is at the Base-Sacral Chakras, the Vishnu Granthi is at the Heart-Throat Chakras, and the Shiva Granthi is at the Sixth-Crown Chakras

Again, there is the Tripartite Nature of Zeus shown here as the granthis are named after the famous Trinity.

The Three Main Nadis

The Ida Nadi, the Pingala Nadi, and the Sushumna Nadi are the main nadis of the Soul.

The Ida Nadi is the Feminine, Moon, Yin

The Pingala Nadi is the Masculine, Sun, Yang

The Sushumna Nadi is neuter beyond duality

The Structure of the DNA Helix

The DNA is made up of two sugar-phosphate strands connected by base-pair rungs (A=T, C=G).

A nucleotide is the three-part building block of DNA, consisting of a sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base.

DNA is the material manifestation of the Kundalini serpent. The Kundalini is connected to the DNA spiritually and materially; the strength of it is determined by your bloodline and the spiritual advancement of you and your ancestors.

The pathway of the Serpent also takes the exact same shape as the DNA Helix.

Everything is connected to the number 3, and the Trident is an utmost important symbol of Zeus; this is why he carries it so proudly! There is much more to uncover here, but I just wanted to share these findings with you all.

The Three Subatomic Particles of an Atom

Related to the three Gunas are the three subatomic particles that form an Atom. Atoms are the building blocks of the fabric of the material universe. There is no more important substance in the universe than atoms, because the entire universe, in its tiniest particles, is composed of them!

Neutron - Neutral - Rajasic, Brahma
Electron - Negative - Tamasic, Shiva
Proton - Positive - Sattvic, Vishnu

This also forms the acrostic NEP, like NEPTUNE, who carries the Trident

Very beautiful, brother. Do post more work like this.

One small correction I'll make is that the AUM mantra is actually a fourfold mantra, not a tripartite one.

A-U-M-silence.

Besides wakefulness, dream and deep sleep, there is also Turiya, or literally "the fourth", a mysterious fourth state.
There is a "hidden fourth" in many triads, but not all. It's a mysterious concept.

"That light, He said, am I, Nous, Thy God, who is before the hygra physis borne out of Darkness. The Logos, from Nous, is the Son of God."

The Three Doshas

The three Doshas are vital to understanding more about our health, the foods we eat, and the way we live our lives:

They are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha

Vata is the dosha composed primarily of air and ether, embodying qualities of dryness, lightness, coldness, roughness, subtlety, and constant motion. It governs all movement in the body, circulation, breathing, nerve impulses, heartbeat, and elimination, as well as mental agility, creativity, and quick comprehension. People with Vata Dosha usually have a thin build

Pitta is the dosha made up with the elements of fire and water, characterized by heat, sharpness, oiliness, lightness, mobility, and penetrating intensity. It controls digestion, metabolism, body temperature, visual perception, intellect, courage, and ambition. People with Pitta Dosha typically have a medium build

Kapha is the dosha formed of water and earth, expressing heaviness, slowness, coolness, oiliness, smoothness, density, and stability. It provides structure, lubrication, immunity, endurance, emotional calmness, and compassion. People with Kapha Dosha usually have a heavier build.

We each have a Dosha that is predominant in us. It is useful to find out what this is and learn what is really healthy for you.

Thank you. Yes, I am aware of this, but I just did not include it to fit the post. Every single mantra has silence that follows it; this silence is your "true self." This is what the Turiya state is: the immortal self that is beyond normal consciousness.

AUM is still a tripartite mantra; the three letters represent the three forms of Zevs

Zeus, Zinas, Dias,
Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva
The Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer

As I mentioned in the post.

The text has several parts in white that cannot be red.

"Tamas is the mode of ignorance, impurity, inertia, anxiety, chaos, darkness, inactivity, apathy, violence, viciousness, and destruction.".

How can represent God Shiva? It's a mistranslation.

Ignorance, chaos and all falsehood related things aren't Tamas, but Vrtra.

Tamas is then Darkness as Mastery of the self, and destruction of falsehood. Which is different from chaos.

Odysee 1, 32-34:

"Ah, how shamelessly mortals blame the Gods!
For they say evils come from us,
whereas they themselves, through their own folly, suffer beyond what is ordained".

So, Sattva Rajas and Tamas, none of these contain any evil, alone.

The only evil is Vrtra/Chaos/Apophis/Izfet.
And has different aspects and manifestations, such as the "Six Enemies of the mind".

I propose here my translations for these, as the modern ones are grossly mistranslated and confusional, like the modern one on Tamas.

षड्रिपु (ṣaḍripu)= The "Six Enemies"

Tenets of Kali Yuga, to be Eliminated to "Access the Temple".
Forces and manifestation of Vrtra that seal and obscurate the soul (nadis, chakras and light of ratna).

काम (kā́ma)= Missplaced geometry (Venus wise) in falsehood for fake pleasure, love, desire. (example: porn)
Colors: 🟩🟦🟧

क्रोध (kródha)= Missplaced anger, wrath (Mars wise). Then lack of control, wisdom and proper thinking. (example: killing a brother over simple misunderstanding and blind feeling)
Colors: 🟩🟦🟦🟨

लोभ (lobha)= Missplaced greed with no wisdom and with no pursue to promote Satya and Dharma, inside and outside. Also related to fear and similar emotions.
Colors: 🟧🟦🟧

मोह (móha)= Desiring something (which is destructive) in these states:
"Loss of consciousness, bewilderment, perplexity, distraction, infatuation, delusion, error".
(Examples: drugs, brainwashed movements/cults aims of every type)
Colors: 🟧🟦🟪

मद (máda)= False sense of Ego (Aham), that isn't your true self, and that prevents you from learning and evolving, "intoxication".
(If you think you already know everything, you will never be able to learn and live (The Truth, and your true self))
Colors: 🟧🟨

मात्सर्य (mātsarya)= Envy, jealousy (against Arya, Noble/Ethic/Zevists Things and Beings?), thinking to bring "Maat"(Justice)(not Real One) against Them(?)
Colors: 🟧🟦🟨🟥🟦🟧

Nature of enemy (ripu), related to sad-ripu (Six enemies):

रिपु (ripú)= Deceiver, cheat, rogue
enemy, adversary, foe, deceitful, treacherous, fraudulent, false, slimy sticking.
Colors: 🟧🟦🟨🟦

*slimy sticking

Part of the colors are inverted, below.
Part of decievement?

धर्म (dhárma)= Virtue, law, justice, practice.
Colors: 🟨🟦🟧

पुर् (púr)= Stronghold, fortress, city, castle (Refered to Temple of Sun?)
Colors: 🟨🟦🟧

Where did I mention evil? I do not know where you are getting that from. I think you are confused

Lord Shiva is the destroyer of darkness, ignorance, and chaos. He is the master of Tamas; he has complete control over it. He is called "The Dark One," who destroys and divides when necessary for new creation. He has the ultimate destructive power, the true embodiment and lord of Tamas.

Chaos and destruction are not strictly Evil forces. Take the story of Set and Horus:

Set is the embodiment of Chaos, Destruction, and Darkness; here, he is the representation of Tamas Guna, which is a force that is necessary to have control over for true Enlightenment.
While Horus is the master of Order, Harmony, and Light, he is the master of Sattva Guna, another necessary force for true spiritual development.

This story is about having mastery over both of these energies, or Gunas, so that you rule over them and conquer them, and are not made a helpless slave to these forces.

Got confused on "chaos".

So basically Tamas is the Power of Lord Set to put us out of the Realms of Chaos/Vrtra?

So basically Tamas is the Power of Lord Set to put us out of the Realms of Chaos/Vrtra?

Chaos is a part of Tamas Guna. To master Chaos is to be aware of it and how it affects us and to use it for good instead of evil.

Chaotic situations and energies give people the opportunity to grow and advance. Chaos incites growth and new developments.

So Chaos is a part of Tamas alongside the other forces of darkness that I mentioned above that keep the cosmic order alive and functioning properly.

Lord Set is a master of this force among many other things; he helps us develop and advance through the chaotic rhythms of life.

The text has several parts in white that cannot be red.

Notice: if you have trouble reading the white text in my post, set the background to Dark Mode in preferences settings, it should be the default mode in the Temple of Zeus. This will fix this issue.

The Three Doshas

The three Doshas are vital to understanding more about our health, the foods we eat, and the way we live our lives:

I just took a consciousness class last semester online with Maharishi University in Iowa and learned about the Doshas, for the first time! Very interesting indeed! Thank you for sharing this! ♡
