the mantra om.
yelling one letter is harder than yelling two letters, vibrating two letters
the sound of the letter becomes longer and you are able to vibrate better and silent
any thoughts better. the fact that om is two lettered, shows the thought process of the creator
of the mantra, or the reality behind it. if it just a man created mantra, and not a sound of the universe then they must of tried one lettered mantras and then found the nearest best thing which is the two lettered mantra om, and different combinations of letters must of been used to find the best mantra, i'm not saying there is not better, but maybe lets say the best mantra for the individual.

Mantra om is corrupted. It is the same mechanism as with everything enemy corrupted. They took mantra AUM (Real mantra with real power), they changed it and thats how om was created. It can be compared to mechanism "thesis + antithesis = synthesis", they take one real thing, mix it with their ideologies, "knowledge" etc and thats how these deceptive things are created.

"सोऽयमात्माध्यक्षरमौङ्कारोऽधिमात्रं पादा मात्रा
मात्राश्च पादा अकार उकार मकार इति ॥८॥"

"This identical Ātman, or Self, in the realm of sound is the syllable OM, the above described four quarters of the Self being identical with the components of the syllable, and the components of the syllable being identical with the four quarters of the Self. The components of the Syllable are A, U, M."

- Mandukya Upanishad, Verse 8

The real sound is AUM, Om is a shortened incorrect version. Many Hindus botch the mantras by stating them too fast instead of vibrating them, which is where this lie came from.

Al Jilwah: Chapter IV

"It is my desire that all my followers unite in a bond of unity, lest those who are without prevail against them." - Shaitan
