Ave, brothers and sisters
What I'm about to write is a touchy subject, so please bear with me.
The question regarding the soul of a person who is born into a physical body that is developmentally handicapped or "retarded" has been something to ponder with me for awhile. I am not the first one. like many of you all, i was unfortunate enough to have been raised catholic as a child. During that time, this subject had been discussed there. Things were said such as, 'those people are known as 'innocents'. And then there were debates over if they go to (the xian myth and version of) 'hell". South Park fans may have seen the episode "do the handicapped go to hell". well i am getting a bit off the subject. i am not posting this out of curiosity of where people go when they die. i am not a xian, so i do not believe in their 'hell."
I am rather wondering about the soul of a developmentally handicapped person. (i'm just going to use the word retarded from now on, ok? its shorter. please do not get all uppity because i am not using it as an insult)
-Is it just the brain that displays this lacking, or does the soul coincide? was this soul just happening to reincarnate into a body that developed as such?
- are they less open/spiritual as the average, equal, or more? anything else you can fill in on this feel free to do so.
My main reason for posting this is because it has to do with me. not directly. My older brother, Aaron is 'retarded." His wasn't a genetic defect. No cp, down syndrome, etc etc. My mother was supposed to have a c-section. That didn't happen. She was in labor so long(30 plus hours) that the doctor left her alone for periods of time. Aaron was finally born while the doctor was downstairs having lunch--with my dad. mother was alone in the hospital room. What happened was he was stuck for awhile, and on top of that had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. His oxygen suppy was greatly cut off and it killed many brain cells, and almost him. so thats Aaron. Now he is very severe, can only speak 4 words, wets himself, etc. Is 30 years old with the i.q of a 6 year old according to specialists.
I have been wondering what its like to be him, what he's thinking....
Aaron does something, he takes his finger and presses it to the middle of the forehead between the eyes- in the location of the 3rd eye. My catholic family says that Aaron is giving a blessing. I know that isnt true. but heres a thought. Maybe he can see different colors, and chakras, etc etc etc better than the average person can. maybe he is attracted to the light from the 3rd eye.
Hey, i know what some of you are thinking . maybe its something Aaron just does and it has little to no meaning. i'm aware of that. But shall we consider all possibilies? How can we know for certain.. he cant speak!
You know how when a person goes blind..? and they greatly advance in their other senses, beyond the average person? Maybe because people like aaron have been so limited in things like communication, etc they have heightened spiritual awareness. Just a theory!!
I would like to know what you think about this.
Or maybe i shouldnt write down every thought to the JOS groups. lol
